If you're like me you've been using these short detectors for years. I've gone through quite a few in 25 years of auto/truck repair. Normally there is a buzzer inside the cylinder that buzzes off and on as the circuit breaker inside the cylinder opens and closes when hooked up to a circuit that has a short. This is invaluable in helping to locate the short in that you can use the sound of the buzzer to let you know when you possibly have moved a wire or harness where the short is located. I've been under a dash many many times searching and the stopping of the buzzer has helped me to find the short. This unit only contains the circuit breaker-- NO BUZZER.
