Worked like a charm. I had this up and running in UDP server mode within an hour. I'm using it to transmit data from my PLC to the computer network where a computer can receive the broadcast and interpret the information. The software, user manual and all documentation seems to be written in decent english but you can tell the people who wrote it are not native english speakers. I had to make a few educated guesses as to what they were saying but it all worked on the first try. The setup software seems to work pretty well. I've successfully programmed the device both via serial cable and via the network (not connected directly to my computer but just sitting on the same network as my computer running the software). They were both extremely easy to use and didn't have any problems.

I haven't used this device for long but I don't see it failing unless they have used cheap crappy electronics. Only time will tell. For the price, this can't be beat. Other serial to ethernet adapters/servers can cost more than $200 and this seems to do the trick for my application.

There was no literature with the device in the package (just the device wrapped in foam, inside a bubble envelope, inside another bubble envelope) with no software or manual. Just do a google search for USR-TCP232-24 and you can eventually find the manual, specs, and configuration software for setting up the device. There was also no power supply or power cable in the package. It appears to be a 5 mm barrel connector (5V DC) and the documentation points to 1 A max current draw (although I doubt its that power hungry). I used a StarTech.
