Small Speakers Produce Surprisingly Good Sound, September 13, 2010
This review is from: KEF C1 Bookshelf Speaker (Pair, Black) (Electronics)
I bought these 2-way bookshelf speakers to replace small light-weight speakers for a SONY CMT-NEZ3 micro stereo system, and I was amazed at the sound that they produced. I tested the speakers with a range of types of music, from folk to reggae to classical, and I found that these speakers sound far better than their price would lead you to believe. Made with components used in KEF's higher-end systems, the speakers have a frequency range of 65Hz-40kHz. Their highs are bright and clear, and the lows (while not the lowest of the low) sound fine to me. Voices and instruments are well-defined and accurately reproduced, and the sound is full. The speakers are rated to handle amplifiers from 10 to 100 watts, so they should produce ample volume; in my small one-bedroom apartment I haven't dared to try the maximum volume.
Measuring 10.25" x 5.9" x 8.7" each, and weighing 7 lb each, these speakers can be easily located anywhere in a room; they even include brackets on the back for wall mounting. They look good, too.
Buy yourself a pair of these speakers and settle in for some fine entertainment, whatever style of music you favor.
