I got this speaker to replace my KEF Model 100 center speaker which I was using with KEF Q80 as main speaker (yes, these are quite old speakers :) ) iQ60c sounds much better than Model 100 and it blends in better with Q80. Sound is full and robust. Dialogs are very intelligible from this speaker. I am very pleased with its performance.

When my wife recently informed me that I had not mentioned to her what I wanted for my birthday, I had to pause and think for a minute; I was happy with my laptop, my sound system had been refreshed over the last 3 years and I just got a new car. What could a techie like me want now? I started thinking about how important the center channel is in a surround sound system and I was off to Amazon to start researching center channel speakers. I wanted to find something that would match my Martin Logan Montage front speakers and something that would be an upgrade over my existing Klipsh center channel. I targeted the Martin Logan Motion 6 or 8 center channels and went to go listen to them. No matter what I was listening to, my ear would keep going to the KEF IQ60c that we were using as a reference. They sounded much more clear and detailed and obviously more efficient. I have had it now for 2 weeks and couldn't be happier. It fit right in, it has solid construction, and we now do not need to keep turning up low volume dialog tracks in movies. I have always been a fan of KEF and at some point, I might migrate all of my speakers over to KEF.

I have been a proud owner of KEF 3005 "eggs" for 4 years now. Two years ago I upgraded to 7.2 by adding in some IQ9 towers and I have never been happier. Since I have always wondered if my center was holding it's own weight against my towers. Time went by and the iq60c went on clearance so I decided to jump on the deal and I am glad I did. In direct comparison, it has similar specs as the center I was replacing, or moving to the bedroom. In direct comparison though it was immediately evident that size does matter. This sucker is easily 2.5 times the size of my current center(mostly depth) and the depth of sound is very evident. Also, improvements to the tweeter arrangement are also obvious as this produces an even clearer upper range than my old center, which I find nearly perfect. I would highly recommend this center to anyone looking to build a solid home theater system that you can show off for years. Now to replace those dual 10" Kef subs with a 13.5" SVS ultra.

KEF iQ60,

The KEF iQ60 is a wonderful all around product. It has a stunning finish and the rounded face also sets it apart from the all too common flat faced center channels. But what's really important is the sound, which is where it sets itself apart from the rest. It has a crisp accurate sound, and most importantly for a center channel has wide dispersion characteristics. That means there is a very large sweet spot for critical listening. The off-axis area is what impressed me the most. Think about it, when you're watching a movie chances are you are not the only one in the room and this creates multiple listening positions which is why its off-axis ability is so important. Everyone gets to experience the sweet spot. All in all the KEF iQ60 has impressed me much more than my previous MartinLogan set up. Very highly recommended.

Kef Q series review,

This review is from: KEF iQ60cBL Center Channel Speaker (Single, Black) (Electronics)
I recently purchased a complete Kef Q series system including
(2)iQ50's, (1) iQ60c, (1)Q400b, (2) Ci130QsII's. Construction and sound quality are excellent. I mostly listen to Jazz, Classical guitar and rock. Because the entire system is based on 5.25 speakers, it is also excellent for an extremely well balanced and clear surround sound movie experience. I highly recommend Kef's Q series. |
