I ordered this trike for my second daughter because i had always heard good things about Kettler trikes. I liked the option of the handle in the back and that it had adjustable seat and handles so it would grow with her. First off we only received instructions in German, so that wasn't a good start. And now we are having trouble with the handle bar that is inserted into the front wheel to steer the bike. It's like the part is loose or stripped so when you want to steer you can't cause it's not a tight fit. I thought this bike was top quality for what we paid, but I was very disappointed. I don't think I would buy another after this experience.

We were shopping for a tricycle for our 2.5 year old daughter, and had decided on the Kettler Happy Plus Princess, which we had found in a local toy store. Luckily, my wife encouraged me to check out the price at Amazon.com, where it was around $50 cheaper! Also, the price of this one just dropped from $200, which I paid on Monday, to $192 today, as I write this review.
Anyway, made the order on Monday, and it was already delivered by Tuesday! We generally have Two-Day delivery as I am an Amazon Prime member, but I was really impressed that this came in 24 hours! The Kettler box came inside a larger Amazon brown box, and everything was in good shape and all parts were present. I had been forewarned that assembling the Kettler Trikes can be a bit challenging, so I was not surprised that it took me a little under an hour total to put it together. It wasn't hard, but yes, the instructions are not always very clear. The provided tools worked fine, I have no complaints. We've only just gotten our daughter started on it, but I have to say that she absolutely loves it! She still doesn't pedal much on her own, but loves to be pushed around. It's nice to be able to lock the handlebars, but I think I have to work on the alignment a little, as the trike veers a few degrees to the right while I'm pushing it. We decided on the Princess over the Air Happy (really wanted the inflatable tires, which are not available on the Princess) for the bucket, storage bag, and over course, the color scheme! We also decided against the Navigator, as it seemed more bulky, and also, the comments about the rear navigation system not being necessary are true - all you need to do is use the push bar to lift the front wheel to change directions. Overall, although we've only been using this trike for a few days, it's already a big hit, and will be sure to get much more use this spring and summer, and hopefully for several more years! One reason we decided to go "top of the line" with the quite expensive Kettler is that we expect to be able to use it for more than just one year - and this sturdy little bike and quality workmanship looks like it will hold up just fine!

I bought this for my 2 year old niece and she absolutely loves it. I think it is built very well. I especially like the fact that it is adjustable as she grows and gets bigger. I also purchased the foot rests and think they are a great I dea, so she can ride the tricycle until she learns how to pedal. Overall I am very happy with the purchase.Joshua Haremza, DDS ( [...])

I know it was expensive, but this bike was worth every penny. It was a first birthday present for our daughter and she LOVES it. You know when you push it, the pedals do not spin and hit her feet? A fine piece of German engineering.

My parents gave my daughter this tricycle for Christmas when she was 14 months old. I had researched it online before the decision was made to purchase this model. It was love at first sight! The tricycle is well made and safe. The pushbar works very well. We added the seatbelt and the bell;both were big hits. I highly recommend this product. It is well worth the price as it will grow with our little princess.

I bought this for my 3 year old daughter, and she immediately loved it.
The low seat makes it stable, she's only tipped it once and caught herself. The best features are the foreward/backward freewheeling and the brakes. [...]. It's very strongly built, although a bit difficult to assemble with the provided tools. You might want to use your own wrenches and screwdrivers to prevent rounding off the bolts and screws.

I read the reviews before I bought this tri. I knew that the parents bar didn't turn so we can navigate the bike before I bought it, I didn't think it to be a problem, and truly it isn't. We just lift or turn the bike when necessary, not much of a hassle.
When I bought this tri my lil girl was about 17 months, now she is 20 and she loves it so much. In terms of safety we never had an issue of her falling. I did buy the seatbelt (which I do believe it should be included) but never used it. I do recommend the helmet and the pads, get them to learn safety, although she hasn't till this day had a need for them even though she does put them on. The locks are great, work perfectly. Putting the bike together took my husband about less than 20 min. The seating is adjustable so as she grows she can reach. Love it and would buy it again

Not worth paying so much,

I was looking for a good tricycle for my 2yo. When I found this kettler tricycle I thought that's what exactly that we need. It looked so beautiful and nice and even though it was quite expensive I decided to buy it. Well, first when I got it I needed 1 hour or even more in order to assembly it. The instructions are so poorly done. Second, when I finally managed to assembly it, I was very disappointed because the handle it has can only push the tricycle forward, it can not turn it or help it move in another direction but forward. So until your baby knows how to pedal this thing on her own there is no way to use it, but if she knows how to pedal you don't need this handle. So I don't recommend buying it, buy something cheaper and more practical instead.
