We bought this as a family gift for our friends last year. They love it and every time we go to their house we get into group building sessions. Their kids are 11, 13 and 14. My husband has been talking about them since we left their house, so this year we got them for our 8 year old daughter. She loves them too. I think we would benefit from the books (I think they are called Red Book, Green Book, Blue Book. They might be produced by Kapla- the same product as this, but made in France.) that give detailed examples of things to build, but we have fun just goofing around. They are perfectly "planed" so you can build a tower to the ceiling, then knock it down. The spiral designs are cool too. There are some youtube videos with a guy showing different designs to make. I'm sure the planks teach geometry, math and balance without even realizing it. Very durable...the reason they are more expensive than the ones made from pine. These don't dent like soft wood does. Such a simple idea and so much to do with them- a timeless toy. A must have for little ones who want to be architects or builders. Highly recommend this for all ages. The adults have as much fun as the kids. We like this set because it has the canvas bag. It is very convenient for storage. We are considering buying another set so our creations can get bigger!

BEST TOY EVER....AND BETTER THAN KAPLA,

We saw the original Kapla blocks at a Children's Museum and I was ready to purchase, until I saw how EXPENSIVE they were. I did A LOT of research and found the Keva blocks. Some of the reviews I read even said that the Keva blocks were made better than the Kapla blocks for half the price. We purchased a set of 400 blocks (with the canvas carrying case...a must with this many pieces) last Christmas for my 6 year old and 2 year old boys. They both have fun building with them. Even 10 months later, they are our favorite toy and the whole family has had a lot of fun with these. Our guests all get sucked into them too, just to see how high a tower can go before it finally topples over. The possibilities are endless...towers, houses, marble chutes, you name it. The quality is exceptional and none of the blocks have split or splintered (like I had read the Kapla blocks do). They are also made in the USA, a big plus in our book. One other helpful hint, don't buy less than 400...you will need them all and we HAVE used them all in a design.Don't hesitate! These are fantastic and your family will love them! PS...search the internet for the best prices because Amazon is not the cheapest place to get them.

We purchased these for our daughter for her 7th birthday after we saw these at a children's museum in Arizona. Kids of all ages played with these for hours. All 3 of our kids have enjoyed playing with them. I was going to go with the 200 set but after thinking about all 3 playing with them at one time, they each would only get about 66 blocks we decided to go with the 400 set. The canvas bag has plenty of room to store the blocks. They are such a great toy and the building options are endless.
