I recommend this book to my own clients. Here's a very informative and practical book for those of you needing support preparing for a job interview. Annemarie Cross has captured cutting edge techniques for interviews that will make a difference in your interview performance. Annemarie is not only the author of '10 key steps to Ace that Interview!' she is also a Career Management & Personal Branding Strategist and speaker among many other things.

Her book has several features that a make it easy to read and use as a reference book. For example, each chapter has an overview, an objective and a summary.

In a nutshell the 10 steps are listed here:
1. Understand the proceeses within interviews
2. Market what you have to offer by matching against what is required.
3. Gain knowledge of the different kinds of interviews so that you can perform well in each.
4. Understand what behavioural interview questions are and how to answer them.
5. Be able to establish rapport through understanding the interviewer's communication style.
6. Provide memorable answers within your interviews through effective communication skills.
7. Plan powerful and positive answers for negative interview questions.
8. Develop confidence to discuss and negotiate salary.
9. Empower your referees to support your application process.
10. Develop you own authentic self-marketing statement to assist you to tap into the hidden job market when networking.

The chapters are not exactly aligned with the 10 steps above, but provide exceptional insider information. The content has interesting tips that you may not have considered before. Such as how you behave when you have to wait for an interview (you may be observed), or wait to be seated; how to present prior mistakes as learning opportunities; how to focus on what the company needs rather than your career goals; what to do after an interview; and how to get feedback when you are not successful.

It is an excellent book for empowering you to prepare adequately for any job interviews. Remember, if you get an interview, you need to perform in such a way as to be the applicant of choice. This book is definitely worth the investment.
