I'm currently studying Farsi, and wanted a way to type emails in Farsi to friends. Microsoft Windows allows you to have multiple virtual keyboards, where the regular keys are mapped to new characters, and one of the options is Persian. The problem was that I had to hunt around to figure out which key would correspond to which Persian character. So I bought these stickers.I had to be careful applying them to my laptop keys, because they're *very* sticky. I ended up using some dental picks I had lying around as tools. As the picture shows, if properly aligned the Farsi characters don't block the English characters. I've been using the stickers for a couple of months now, and they're sturdy and stable. They haven't shifted at all, even though I use my laptop a lot. I have only two minor complaints, which would not keep me from purchasing them again if I got a new laptop: 1) the stickers are a bit thick, so I can't easily feel the little ridges on the 'F' and 'J' keys. I'm a touch typist, so hand placement is important. It's not a big thing, I just have to look once to ensure I've got my hands in the right place before I start typing. 2) Because the stickers are a bit thick, the edges sometimes tickle my finger tips. Mildly annoying if I'm typing long term papers, but most of the time I don't notice it. I like the stickers better than a dedicated Arabic keyboard because (1) I don't have to carry around another device, and (2) because many of the for-sale keyboards aren't in the standard Persian format.

Pretty much as described but the stickers themselves are a fair bit smaller than my keyboard keys. I don't know if this is just my keyboard but they do look quite odd with a few millimetres of space around them.

I bought 3 sets of these for my keyboards at home (linux, not windows but they seem to use the same character map as MSWin). They arrived within 4 days of ordering and fit well. The tactile feel of them is different but not hard to get used to. They fit my laptop keyboard just as well as my desktop keyboard, and include farsi punctuation, tashdids, hamzas, etc. Nice.

At first, the stickers seemed off because of the haze on the keys. You could tell that there were indeed stickers on the keys. After a week, they've faded in with the keys and are more natural in look and feel.I love the contrast against the keys. I've been able to make my own flashcards quite easily thanks to these keys. The only issue I have with these is the price. $5 sucks when you add another $3 for shipping. Well worth $5, but that extra shipping makes you go hmmmmm... |
