Book Description

Guess who’s back?

A sequel two years in the making...

First there was SERIAL...

Acclaimed thriller writers Blake Crouch and Jack Kilborn pitted their skills against each other in a psychotic game of serial murder. Crouch wrote about Lucy, a hitchhiker who killed drivers. Kilborn wrote about Donaldson, a driver who killed hitchhikers. Then they brought their characters together and tried to slaughter one another on the page.

SERIAL has been downloaded over 350,000 times. The film rights have been optioned, and it is currently available as an ebook, in print in various collections, and forthcoming in audio.

Now comes KILLERS...

At the end of SERIAL, Donaldson and Lucy didn't die. When they each wake up in a hospital, under arrest for their crimes and guarded by the police, each burns with a single, overwhelming desire:

To escape and finish what they started.

That’s going to be difficult with the deputies posted outside their hospital rooms and their life-threatening injuries, but these killers are hell-bent on finding a way.

Beyond a thrilling piece of horrifying suspense, KILLERS takes the collaborative literary experiment begun in SERIAL to the next level. Crouch wrote the first part. Kilborn wrote the second, and then, unaware of each other’s opening section, they wrote the third part together in a Google Doc where they could simultaneously write in real time. All bets were off, and may the best psycho win.

At 18,500 words, KILLERS is a full-length novella, almost three times the length of SERIAL. This ebook contains KILLERS, a Q&A with Kilborn and Crouch, author bibliographies, and excerpts of Crouch’s BREAK YOU, and Kilborn’s, Konrath’s and Crouch’s SERIAL UNCUT.

NOTE: The three novellas in this series are: Serial Uncut, Killers, and Birds of Prey.

These novellas are also available in a variety of compilations.

Killers Uncut = Killers + Birds of Prey.

Serial Killers Uncut = Serial Uncut + Killers + Break You + Birds of Prey.

5.0 out of 5 stars Horrifying March 2, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
If you've ever wondered at the limits of the human body or wondered about the depths of hate then this is the book for you. I must warn you that once you start this book you simply won't be able to put it down again until the end...yes, it really is that good.

Killers continues where Serial UNCUT finished. Thankfully the unimaginable has happened and our favourite young couple has survived for another day, albeit in a somewhat paralympic fashion. Killers is in essence a love story between a man and a woman, with issues. How they express their feelings would leave Dr Phil lost for words, and that I think is a good thing. This novella explores the fringes of passion and lust, creativity and artistic expression, and some other human traits as well. It is not for the wimpy or faint of heart, nor for those who enjoy a snack while reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well written; deeply disturbing; very short April 12, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I would highly recommend reading Serial Uncut before reading this; if you like that, you will almost certainly like this. The style is very similar, with each author writing an introduction describing the situation their character is in, then jointly working together when the two (surprise) meet up.

Obviously, no one should purchase this unless he or she is a fan of gruesome horror. The scenes in this novella are over-the-top and grisly, but well-executed. In terms of the quality of the work, I have no complaints, and would rate it at least four stars.

I was, however, disappointed by the length (or lack thereof). This is a short novella, with significant padding (a worthwhile discussion between the two authors, and a not-so-worthwhile snippet from Serial).

I didn't feel it was worth $2.99 for me; on the other hand, I've gotten more than my money's worth out of previous works by these authors, so it would seem churlish to complain excessively. If you feel $3 is too much to pay for a short novella, then wait for the authors' Killers Uncut or Serial Killers Uncut, which will incorporate this work. Naturally, if everyone does this, the authors might quite reasonably conclude from a lack of sales that there is a lack of interest, and fail to produce extended editions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lucy vs. Donaldson February 27, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was so glad that Kilborn and Crouch decided to write a sequel to Lucy and Donaldson's story that ended so abruptly in SERIAL UNCUT (Extended Edition). Even though their living through what happened to them in "Serial Uncut" is pretty unbelievable - and then both of them being able to function is incredibly far-fetched - I didn't care. This is fiction and I wanted to read more of their story. And I sure enough did. Great follow-up - thanks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!!! June 19, 2013

If you like reading about serial killers, madness, and mayhem, you came to the right place. If you do not like horror stories or are looking for the next Emily Dickinson, leave now. If you liked the movie Pulp Fiction, read this book. This is the first book I ever downloaded that came with a warning label from the authors. It is a well deserved warning label. This book is about what happens when serial killers cross paths. The authors do not candy coat the results. You feel their pain and agony from page one. The writing is terrific. Great stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic psycho thriller!!! April 12, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've only recently got a kindle and it has opened me up to an entire new world of genres, writing modes (eg I never new novellas existed and never really read short stories) and fantastic authors. Kilborn was the first author I downloaded an ebook from...'serial' being my first 'cause it was free. I immediately felt I owed the author something, so paid for 'serial uncut'. I couldn't get enough of what Kilborn provides so seemingly effortlessly, so i had to get Killers, as the follow up novella to serial uncut. Kilborn has singlehandedly ensured I feel I've gotten value from my kindle...I love his books, cannot put them down, and am working my way through his kindle catalogue currently. If you like reading about serial killers and psychopaths, you can't go wrong with Kilborn, but before you read this, grab serial uncut! I just hope he keeps them coming!!!!! I'm kinda glad I've come to his work a little late as it gives me a lot to read from the get go...without waiting!! 'Killers' is five stars. Cannot wait for the next installment.
