The game plunges four hastily recruited heroes into a demonic world of mystery and horror, where they must battle the hideous freaks of nature spawned by the dreams of The Nightmare Child. The player begins as a mere mortal and progressively acquires the powers of The Elder, the supernatural alter egos of Kiss. The Elder, embodied through Demon, Starbearer, Beast King, and Celestial, must together prevent the unraveling of the cosmos.
The nightmare minions are largely split into three groups: horde creatures, circus mutants, and bosses. The hordes have their strength in numbers and come at you by the truckload; the circus thugs are stronger, smarter, and possess special abilities that vary depending on their profession. At the heart of each realm is a nightmarish boss who puts your powers to the ultimate test.

If you are a Kiss fan this is just the best game ever. The engine works really nice and the characters are great. Enjoy your new game.

Fun Shooter,
This review is from: KISS Psycho Circus: The Nightmare Child (CD-ROM)
KPC was ultimately a let-down after the hype it received during development. But what you do get is a straight-forward, fun, action shooter in a dark, carnival-gone-bad world that throws hordes of enemies your way on-screen at once. The last level is unimaginative and poor, but the rest of the game is genuinely entertaining for the most part. Many of the people who criticize the game haven't even played it, they just follow the "I'm a PC gamer" lemming mentality so prevalent on the internet, and only play whatever is cool or most popular.

Actually worth the money,
By Chris F Cross (Houston, TX United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: KISS Psycho Circus: The Nightmare Child (CD-ROM)
In spite of the many "professional" editorial reviews, I found the game quite entertaining. The AI is about equal to Quake and the graphics engine (LithTech, I believe) looks very good, except for the holes. A hole is a space in the engine where surfaces don't quite come together and I "fell through" at least two of them. There are a few places where you can see the "edges" of surfaces and some of the enemy's actions can extend through walls. Watch out for "foot traps" that unintentionally prevent you from moving. In spite of all this, gameplay is quite acceptable, imagery is excellent, and the game is devoid of "dumb jumping tasks." Be sure and use spectator mode to take a look around each level.
