A GREAT way to get your daily dose of The Word!, October 18, 2004
This review is from: KJV Complete Bible-Nylon Zip (60 CD + 1 DVD) (Audio CD)
Featuring the world-class narration of Alexander Scourby from the King James version of the Bible. Inspiring, majestic, and powerful, this word-for-word narration of the Bible is unsurpassed. Perfect for those who wish to learn the Bible and increase their faith, but find reading the Bible difficult. A "Must Have" for any library!

Good, but with a couple of reservations, March 21, 2008
This review is from: KJV Complete Bible-Nylon Zip (60 CD + 1 DVD) (Audio CD)
I have mixed feelings about this product. I am very glad to have Scourby's excellent reading, and the price was, I think, quite good considering the size of the package. And I would venture to say it's as good a carrying case as you'll find. However...
Every disk is filled to the absolute max they could fit on it, to the point where some of them even end mid-chapter of a book, and pick up with the next verse on another CD. Few of the disks actually begin a new book, which is a bit of nuisance if, like me, at a given time you want to listen to a specific book.
The *real* problem with packing the disks so all-fired full is that some CD players have problems reading the last bit, usually just the last minute or two. I would blame that on my playing device, except that I have at least three different device types made by two different manufacturers that have exhibited this behavior. Such a device cannot track the outermost tracks, and tends to stumble and sputter until you finally put it out of its misery--and lose the last little bit of the narrative.
The only answer I have found is to burn the disks in this package to CD-R's (which gives me the opportunity to reorganize them into books as well). This is not without it's own problems though, since I have at least one player (a DVD player) I'd like to play them on, that can't read CD-R's at all. But that's a story for another time...

The Voice of Biblical Films, September 12, 2005
This review is from: KJV Complete Bible-Nylon Zip (60 CD + 1 DVD) (Audio CD)
Scourby's was the most in-demand voice for movie-industry narration in epic films of the 50's and 60's. His signature voice raised any film beyond its surroundings. For the KJV, you hear it as it was intended to be spoken, and you find yourself saying, "So that's how that verse is supposed to go. I get it now."
Here the Bible is given its spoken elegance beyond what the usual American voice can render.
