I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I knew better than to launch my brand-new Radian sailplane not knowing what I was doing. So in April of 2012, I ordered this simulator from Amazon, and for a solid month or so I put in many hours on it, not strictly as instruction, but also because it was so much darned fun.

But to back up a bit, upon receiving it, the first thing I did was download a program called RC DeskPilot, which served my flight needs beautifully, and it was FREE. There was even an exact replica of my Radian RTF, and as it turned out, flying that imaginary Radian was very close to flying the real thing. But whether it was or not, the important thing to me, as a beginning rc pilot, was to learn INSTINCTIVELY the movements of the controls that keep your expensive bird from making those undesirable vertical landings. Make no mistake about it, when a plane suddenly heads for the ground, contemplating which way to move the stick is a nicety you usually don't have. It's essential to make the correct movements right then, without thinking. For this reason, a simulator is priceless. And boy, does it save money.

So here's what happened after many hours on this simulator: On a windy day I shouldn't have flown, I launched the Radian for the first time. And things went exactly as planned. I fought the wind for probably 10 minutes and then set the sailplane down fairly gently. No damage whatsoever. Moreover, I went through those first 20 to 30 flights in better conditions over a period of weeks without a crash one. Not one. In fact, my first crash occurred after I made "improvements" to the Radian that rendered it tail heavy. All my fault.

This USB simulator was somewhat difficult to set up in the beginning due to foggy instructions.

Verified Purchase
It does not contain all of the necessary files. It fails to load properly and is missing files. It is a waste of time and money.
