4.0 out of 5 stars Slow Shipping
This took almost 2 months to get to me with free super saver shipping. It's a good thing I didn't have any particular plans for it. But it is a nice canoe and I enjoy it so It would have gotten 5 starts if the shipping didn't take forever!

2.0 out of 5 stars Delivery was the worst I have ever experienced in conjunction with the purchase of any product.
In a few words: Delivery man was alone, there was no box and I had to help him take a heavy canoe off the truck. Wait, I'm the purchaser, right? Or was I the delivery (wo)man?

The driver arrived and went to the back of the truck and the canoe was wrapped in one layer of plastic which was ripped in many places and the canoe was exposed. Even worse, the driver...

Even worse, the driver was alone, so he tipped one end of the canoe off the end of the truck until it hit the ground at which point I came out and asked him puzzedly, "Are you alone?" He said "Yes." I couldn't believe it. So unless I wanted him to allow the other end of the canoe to crash to the ground in an effort to get it out of the truck himself and then watch him drag it along the asphalt to the door, I had to do it MYSELF. There was no box nothing, just a flimsy single-layer of plastic wrap which was ripped and exposed in places.. He didn't think anything about being alone and from what I could tell he was pretty much going to push it out of the truck until it hit the asphalt on its own, scratching and damaging it. Ironically, I grabbed an end and he still dropped it.

I thought this was supposed to be 'white glove'. It was the farthest thing from it. I hurt my hand in the process of playing the unexpected role of "Delivery Man #2". To add insult to injury, I took a day off from work for this.

Worse than me having to help out is the alternative: if I could not help him he was just going to push it off the back of the truck and drag it along the asphalt to the door himself, damaging the canoe along the way.

I haven't been able to use the canoe yet so I can't see if it was damaged when he pushed it off the truck, although I do see a loose bolt on the floor of the canoe as well as shavings of plastic that match the plastic the canoe is made of.

In sum: no box, wrapped in a poor single layer of plastic (ripped) and the absolutely, positively worst delivery practices I have ever seen. A disgrace. I feel like asking who I should send my bill for wages for the time I spent as a delivery man that day.

To think I spent $650 on this and took a day off from work. Let's just hope the canoe isn't damaged. If they handled it this poorly in front of the customer, who knows how they treated it before it got to me...

Update: Had a chance to inspect the canoe close up without the plastic and indeed there is a bolt missing - one that attaches the hull to the center seat -- so now I'll have to deal with that getting replaced. Only a piece of the bolt was floating around the bottom of the canoe, the rest is missing in action.

I ordered this boat on march 15 2011 and today April 14 i got another notice that there is a shipment delay. this already my fourth delay notice. I have no choice to cancel this order. what a disappointment this is. if i want to be on the river i have to buy it from someone else. unless you have time to wait like few months don't get it.
