Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Whether you're seeking an affordable stereo bookshelf-speaker set or planning to augment your front speakers with surround satellites for home theater use, KLH's 911B bookshelf speakers should do nicely. The 2-way speakers each use a 5.25-inch woofer and a .875-inch liquid-cooled dome tweeter. Efficient and easily driven, the dynamic speakers are rated for use with amplifiers supplying anywhere from 5 to 100 watts per channel.

The 911Bs from KLH Audio are compact--they stand under a foot high and produce next to nothing below 80 Hz (the upper bass region)--but if you use them in tandem with a subwoofer, you can extend their perceived range much deeper. Positioning them close to walls will reinforce the bass they offer, and most will probably find the sound reasonably full-bodied--just don't expect the kind of low-end slam you'd get from floorstanding tower speakers.

The speakers are magnetically shielded, so they can be placed on a TV or video monitor without degrading the picture via stray magnetic fields.

This review is from: KLH 2-Way 100-Watt Bookshelf Speakers - 911B (Electronics)
The dome tweeters are very clear, similar to my high-end Boston speakers. The midrange is okay, sounds like speakers in a high-end television. But overall, the sound is more than a bit flat, and gets tiresome after a while. And, all of this is based on driving them through a 100 watt, old but high-end 2-channel stereo using 7 channel equalizer settings to tweak them. They are fairly efficient for the size, but increasing the sound level does not fill the room; they sound too flat.

I have ordered a Sony 100 watt subwoofer for them, this should balance out the package and sound quite great. Without a sub, these speakers sound like a good TV. Quite adequate and surprising performance for such inexpensive speakers.
