4.0 out of 5 stars klh 200w sub
Very good for the price. But compared with JBL 10 which is the flagship in this level,it gets 4.5 stars. It only comes 1 year warranty. JBL 5 years save you in the long run. Turn to 50% , you will get good result. Don't expect turn to 100% volume even you can. Sensitivity is not great. Maybe less than 87db. That is why it needs 200w while jbl needs 150w But it is a good...

1.0 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY KLH
I bought this speaker about 3 months ago being a down south rap lister! Thinking it's a 15" with a 200 watt amp sounds good! Nice Price and looked nice! But not knowing KLH quailty i went ahead and bought it! ¤¤BIG MISTAKE¤¤ It didn't sound all that great for a 15" and was way to muddy in sound! After not liking this Speaker and thinking of taking it back it...

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good product, November 21, 2001

I have had the 15 inch 200watt sub for a while about 6months now
very impressed with it. I am using it with onkyo products and it seems to give good bass response during movies going down as low as 22hertz. The amp on back reading 335watts if that helps you. Box looks good no complaints thier sure of that. The only thing that you might not like is the neighbors complaining. Well hope this helped you out i think it is a great deal if you are looking for some serious bass.

4.0 out of 5 stars For the price it can't be beat!, January 13, 2001
This review is from: KLH ASW15-200 15" 200W Front-Firing Powered Subwoofer (Electronics)
Unfortunately, I was unable to purchase this item from Amazon but got a similar price from another store. Though I was impressed with the power and room shaking bass of this subwoofer, I was not impressed with the boomyness of the sound. It was fine for home theater movies but made my music CD's sound muddy and saturated. I read a review posted in an audio magazine where the owner of the ASW 15200 added some acoustic suspension to improve the sound. I purchased some from Radio Shack for less than [price] and installed it in less than 10 minutes. That was the best [money] I ever spent! Boy what a difference it made in the sound - it made a good value even better. I stapled the acoustic suspension to the top, bottom, and sides of the box. The sound is still a little boomy but the bass is tighter and more defined without sounding so overpowering. If you buy this box and aren't happy with the sound the way it is, I highly recommend the slight modification. Enjoy!

I am writing an addition to my earlier review now that it has been 8 months since I originally bought the KLH unit. I must say that I am just as satisfied today as the day I wrote my original review. The sub continues to perform well. And, contrary to what a previous reviewer wrote about equalization, which is important in your overall sound, this sub definitely needed some modification. I am also going to purchase the Audio Source unit which Amazon sells for about [price]- I can't pass up that deal for what seems to be an identical unit. It looks exactly like the KLH unit with the same size driver and power amp. If you read the reviews for it, just about all of the reviewers recommended some modifications to improve the bass response.

I know this is supposed to be a review but if any of the other reviewers read this, this is for you:
Your subwoofer was only doing what it was built to do when it gave out these booming, often muddy, low tones. There is nothing wrong with your sub, what you need is an equalizer if you don't like that sound quality. You need good speakers for the higher frequency to give you the nice clear tones to complete a good overall sound, and tone down the levels on the subwoofer to eliminate that muddy sound, but keeping the bass nice and solid.
My suggestion then would be an audio reciever with an equalizer.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love my KLH powered sub!, June 1, 2005
This review is from: KLH ASW15-200 15" 200W Front-Firing Powered Subwoofer (Electronics)
I have had my powered sub for almost two years now and absolutely love it. If you have a 7.1 THX system and have that preout on the back of your receiver, this will add more depth to the bass. The only quirky thing about it is the auto-detect mode...if there is no deep bass for a period of time, it may cut out on you. So I just keep it on the ON mode while the receiver is on. Plugging it to the receiver so when the receiver turns on, the powered sub fixes this. I hate to say this...but it's one heck of a conversational piece too. My friends have home theater systems with little piss-ant 8's or 10's. This a beast at 15"!!! I have a metal speaker grill mounted on it to protect it and keep the mesh off. The guy I bought it from said that he was forced to sell it because his wife complained that it would knock pictures off the wall...in his basement. That alone sold me!!! : D But seriously it adds a lot of depth to movies with bass that you might be missing out on. For instance, there is a lot more bass in the movie Titanic that makes the movie more claustrophobic. Or when playing Halo, you can feel the pulse of your plasma pistol, etc. Awesome unit...I would never part from it.
