Attractive bookshelf (or wall mount) speakers.,
This review is from: KLH AV1001B Bookshelf Speakers, (Pair) (Electronics)
These small KLH speakers were just what I was looking for in a low cost, very attractive bookshelf style pair for my office. The sound quality is adequate (especially in an office setting where better base would bother my coworkers down the hall.) The small port in the back is a feature I've always favored. Amazon.com service was quick as usual.

Great economic speakers, nice sound!,

As terminally addicted to the asthetic, I must admit that first and foremost, any psuedo-surround sound speakers I bought must look attractive. These do!They're small for one, well-built and sound great to boot! They make a nice addition to a partially assembled system like mine, and really round out the sound. My system is piecemeal: an Onkyo amp with two channel outputs (front and back), a Technics CD player, and Acoustic stage 150W speakers. What I needed was rear channel speakers. These fit the bill.

Can't beat them for the price,

I have an older pair of these KLH AV1001B Bookshelf Speakers hooked to a relatively inexpensive receiver. I listen mostly to jazz and classical music on them and have been very pleased with their sound quality. They have good range and a very full sound at moderate volume levels. You absolutely cannot beat them for the price.

Awesome sound quality, great value, but lacks a little bass.,

I've had these speakers for about 6 months now and I am extremely suprised at the great sound quality from them. It does lack some in the bass. It only hits 80Htz. But they still sound great. I was using a reciever with the bass boost centered at 45 htz. How useful on speakers that won't hit that low! But I got a good pioneer that's centered at 100htz, and they sound way better. Very clear sound no matter how loud they are. Tweeter sounds good, but there is some whine in the higher bass, but for running them to the max what do you expect? I'm running 100 watts per channel through these, and they'll handle it very well, especially for the size. I did blow one of the woofers last week from having them up way too high when it went from a vocal song to a bassier song, but when taking the woofer out, I noticed it was a quality speaker with 60 watts max, vented pole piece, and a good magnet structure. All in all I think these speakers are comparable to way more expensive speakers in everything but deep bass. But I have the KLH 10" 120 watt sub and they are a perfect match. Despite what people say about KLH I'm suprised with the quality of their products. Most of the bad reviews are due to operator error. And what do you expect from $50 bookshelfs? Deep bass to crack a window? They won't shake the walls, but use it with a sub and they'll sound awesome. Worth every penny and would happily buy another pair for whatever.

Great speakers for the price,
By A Customer
This review is from: KLH AV1001B Bookshelf Speakers, (Pair) (Electronics)
Fellow who used monster cable was a bit odd whereas his speakerwire would have costed a lot more than the speakers. For speakers that are $50/pair or so, they're pretty darn good. Faint praise to some extent, but really, for the money no complaints. I've had a pair for a very long time, just dusted them off and hooked them up to use'm again and thought I'd see what Amazon had to say about them. They don't come close to my ancient AR-9 speakers nor my newer Energy "5.1" speakers, but those costed way more than 50 bucks. Each. :-)Audiophile speakers? No way. Great cheapies? You bet!

The sound these speakers produce is truly amazing for their size and price. One of the best buys in electronics. Get a pair. You won't be sorry.

Ignore the Thomas review; his problem was the receiver,
By A Customer
This review is from: KLH AV1001B Bookshelf Speakers, (Pair) (Electronics)
The Thomas guy returned the Sony receiver and bought a JVC receiver after he discovered that was the cause of the hum. You can read it all by clicking on the "more about Thomas whatever" button.

Got these speakers about a month ago, have them wired through my TV and CD player. Good enough value. Heavy, solid wood design. You'll smell the wood when you open them up. More bulky than they appear, but good sound to back them up.

not that great,

I've never owned any products by KLH but after reading the reviews here i felt confident that they would be decent. I have a new high end sony receiver and all monster cable. So that's not the problem. I set these up as rear speakers. They didn't stay up long. They emit a constant hum as soon as they're turned on. Sound quality was poor with no definition. They were so bad, i had to send them back since they detracted from my other speakers. Don't be fooled and think you can get good, quality speakers at this price. The product is actually even cheaper.
