Even thouth it says it is a receiver. It is not. You cannot hook up your cable TV to it and use the speakers. You can only use the speakers if you play a DVD or listen to the tuner. It is not a true theater in a box as it says. I will be sending it back.

I was excited by all the features offered in this unit for the price, but living with it has left me feeling otherwise.1. Weak weak weak remote. Point directly, push repeatedly, and Maybe it'll work. Buttons are tiny, not lit, etc 2. Lowest volume TOO LOUD! How can a product be made like that? 3. Amplifier dead after 3 months of light use. I'm calling the company tomorrow, it's got a 1 year warranty, but I'm not hopeful. Even if they ship a replacement, I don't think I want it!...

KLH DVZ-2500 DVD Player Default Password,
By William Tell (Hollywood, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: KLH DVZ-2500 DVD Home Theater System (Electronics)
The default password mentioned in the instruction book which comes with this product gives the INCORRECT code of 2001. The CORRECT, permanent, hard-coded, will-always-work password is 3308. The problem is that the default for the parental lock is ON. And there are many movies you cannot watch without unlocking the parental lock. Then, when you look up how to turn it off in the instructions, the wrong code is given. After calling tech support I learned that this was a mistake in the instructions and that the correct default code is 3308.

I returned it without even pluggin' it,

This is actually a DVD player in a big box, with 5 small speakers and a heavy subwoofer, it's not a HTIB, it's not an A/V receiver. This system has no input available whatsoever. It says somewhere in the instructions that the most you would get from a CD is a stereo sound, the Dolby digital is only for DVDs. But the biggest issue is that you cannot even put the sound from VCR/satellite/TV through it, doesn't matter it's quality...

You can NOT beat this value!,

While I do agree with volume 1 being a little loud for an apartment, everything else about this system rocks. After spending another $... to upgrade the speaker wire and RCA analog signal wires, this system is clean. The signals are discrete and in a smaller room, really sounds big. There is center and rear surround delays which also help as the processor isn't the best. The system came with mounting hooks to hang the speakers. The powered sub has an auto-off feature which is great as I have it hidden in a closet. This little 50 watt sub is using the whole closet as it's enclosure now :) and last night watching the Patriot, the bed was shaking from cannon blasts on volume 3!! Bottom line, the system is worth twice as much as it sells for.

I eagerly waited for this home theater system when I ordered it.A lot of the reviews said people had trouble with the passwords and the volume or it didn't work. However a lot of people also raved about the unit.I received the unit and it took me about two hours to set it up correctly.First thing it says at the beginning of the manual the password is 3308 and later it says it is 2001. I can't belive people didn't try both numbers. Also people complained that there was real audio level control, but that is covered in the manual under settings>dynamics. One person said you have to eject the dvd to get this menu,if you read the instructions all you have to do is hit the stop button on the remote twice, everybody who complained didn't read the manual,my good friend bought a Zenith surround sound system for $400.00 and belive me this unit sounds just as good as his.The bass will rumble your stomach and the seperation is fantastic this unit should be selling for 3x the price I Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!the only thing you need to know is that all the surround settings are turned off at the factory when you get it just follow the manual and you should be ok.

Awefully Loud...for cds and dvds,
By A Customer
This review is from: KLH DVZ-2500 DVD Home Theater System (Electronics)
Stay away from this one. the volume is only adjustable to audible level when on radio mode. Like the rest, I found the volume "one" for cd and dvd is extremely loud. I live in an apartment in New York. At level one, it woke up the whole neighborhood. Don't even waste 10 bucks for this home theater system. It is not worth the hard-earned dollars. I am very disappointed, but to send it back might cost me almost the same price of the unit.

I purchased this unit for friends as a Chistmas present based on Amazon's positive description. They have been trying to set it up for 3 weeks and have run into all of the problems mentioned in the customer reviews. Hopefully, it will work eventually. Shame on Amazon for not having alerted prospective purchasers.

1) Volume problem when playing CD (too loud)2) DVD played OK 3) Setup was easy (color-coded) and manual was OK 4) Got a replacement - same CD problem and DVD is broken as well - sending the whole thing back. 5) Would have been a nice system if it worked.

No instructions, no manual and no help,
By A Customer
This review is from: KLH DVZ-2500 DVD Home Theater System (Electronics)
This system might be ok. I would need an instruction manual first. The system came without the manual and nobody seems to be able to find one. Apparently this is a new system so there are no manual available for it? One problem that we may or may not be able to fix is the input level for the DVD player. The volume level can not be adjusted on this system it is alway playing TOO LOUD. So loud actually, that we can't even use the system because it is TOO LOUD. We might eventually be able to adjust the input volume level but we will need an instruction manual to do it. Since there are no instruction manuals available we won't be able to turn it down, or live with a system that performs this way. I am sure I will eventually have to return this item.
