I purchased this "grand daddy" Lincoln Log set for my 4 and 6 year old. I debated on spending so much money, but it was well worth it to get the "real" Lincoln Logs and to have so many pieces for them to work with. They can make at least 3 full structures with the set. The storage case is great for storage, however a little on the heavy side, but that hasn't stopped my kids from dragging them out to play with. Because of their ease, my kids feel so proud after they have built the 'homes' complete with chimneys!!! I recommend them to anyone with a child who loves to create things on their own (and sometimes with a little help too).

I am sending the Collector's Edition of Lincoln Logs to my Grandson Julian so that he can make new and larger buildings by adding to the logs his father used40 (or more!) years ago! I think the fact that they are still used and enjoyed speak to the durability,educational and fun aspects of Lincoln Logs!!

i actually got it on an amazon sale for $20 w/free shipping.
it's really the same as the regular ones but the case weighs about 15 pounds and the logs are a different color so they dont really match the regular ones. There's even a warning on it that because they are stained the color may rub off... I think that all of the logs from all sets are all wood, but the newer sets have plastic pieces for the roof while this collectors set has a wooden roof.

Classic, durable, fun, educational -- for kids of all ages, including me!

I bought the Lincoln Logs in the case for my 3 year old grandson. He loves them. Of course he isn't into making the designs that come with it. He designs his own little mansions. The only thing is the wooden case is a little heavy for him to manage well, but he does drag it around by the handle. I like the idea that it comes in the original collector case.

If you are considering purchasing a sturdy or quality gift for a young one that enjoys construction (LEGOS, K'Nex, etc) this might be a good option. The set is substantial as far as Lincoln Logs go but, the presentation is what takes it from classic construction toy set to heirloom. The set is packaged (and stores) in a handsome mahogany stained wooden box equipped with a carrying handle and nifty wood pin-release feature.

My son received this set as a gift and loves it. I imagine this set will still be played with by his grandchildren.

I realized from the beginning that I was paying for a large heavy box but I was dissapointed in the lack of variety of pieces. I had searched for a collection of lincoln logs that could be used just with the child's imagination and was not so specific for a particular project. It seems that lincoln logs does not offer that anymore...just like the marketing techniques of most toys today.

We bought these for our sons for Christmas. We both loved these as children and hope our boys will love them too. This is a great set with plenty of pieces and comes in a beautiful wooden box. So far our 4 and 2 year old sons are loving playing with them. You just can't go wrong with Lincoln Logs.

My brother and I grew up with Lincoln Logs so he was tickled pink when I got these for his 3 year old son who LOVES them. He plays with them everyday.

I was so impressed when I opened this set. The box is super-nice. Everything is real wood, which is great. I bought the Lincoln Logs as a gift for my nephew and actually considered keeping them for myself! (I did give them to the child, but he shared.) A lot of the Lincoln Log sets you can buy in stores now are cheap and come with plastic parts. This is not one of those sets - very nice, well made, and awesome box for storage so the Lincoln Logs will not be strewn about the house.
