This set comes with an oversized booklet offering step-by-step instructions for assembling the Sawblade Thrill Ride, a daring structure with two spinning wheels that's over four feet tall. Even though colored illustrations make these instructions easy to follow, the Sawblade is a large, complicated ride, and even the most accomplished builders will be proud when they finish construction and set the motor spinning for the first time.
Imagine, Build, Play
Like any building toy, this K'NEX set isn't limited by the model in the instructions. Anything kids can dream up, they can make from K'NEX. Of course, it isn't always easy. Geometry and physics play a role in the way a structure stands and moves, adding an educational component to each building session. And by fostering attention to detail along with creative problem solving skills, building toys like K'NEX encourage kids to be thoughtful and innovative.
With plenty of pieces for more than one budding architect, K'NEX offer a way for kids to connect with each other, too. Friends and siblings can put their heads together to cooperatively construct a spectacular building or vehicle, or they can divvy up the parts and compete to see who comes up with the most unbelievable new thing.
The Possibilities Are Endless
Stumped trying to come up with something to build? Or do you simply think a ride called the Swinging Rocket sounds super cool? Go to knex.com online and download instructions for alternate builds using the pieces in this set.
If your child is prepared for a bigger challenge, you can combine the Sawblade Thrill Ride with other sets for even more versatility. K'NEX building systems featuring other unbelievable thrill rides, speedy vehicles, and tubs full of useful parts are entirely compatible with the pieces in this set. All those little connectors can be difficult to keep track of, but the thrill of creation makes it worthwhile.
What's in the Box
1555 building pieces, including a K'NEX motor, and an instruction booklet.

As an oldster tinker toys is what comes to mind when I first introduced to K-Nex. This is a much superior product as the pieces stay assembled and functions as the real word you can apply lateral stress and realize the same failure you might find in a real world structure . This is for an advanced nine year old or adult involvement is necessary the simpler model sets are better to introduce a child to K-nex as the plans are sight driven . see replicate. some pieces hard to snap together is why they hold together so well.

I got a great deal on this through Amazon over the holidays and my son absolutely loves it. He is 8 and assembled the entire ride in one day without any help - sniff, sniff. It's the first major piece set he's not asked me to help with. That tells me the instructions are very intuitive. If you've got a serious K'Nex, Lego engineer on your hands, this set will be a welcome addition. Those without lots of building experience will definitely need help. All the little people that come with it are cool too. The one beef I have with K'Nex (and this has happened with several products) is that they need to include a few spare parts and improve the tracking mechanisms on the amusement park sets. On both this set and the serpent spiral coaster, the track hangs up even after lots of adjusting and futzing around. Not annoying enough to forgo the purchase.

It took my son and I several hours to put this together. The instructions are not that easy to read and once we did have it together we ran into a lot of complications. It never did really work right. I bought several of this type of toy and none of the moving ones worked correctly.
