3.0 out of 5 stars Grandpa In Kansas, August 19, 2009

This review is from: Lincoln Logs Fort Redwood (Toy)
Lincoln logs were cool when i was a kid and are still a good learning tool for kids today but they have lost some of their appeal. The early sets I grew up with had real slat roof pieces instead of plastic or the half log ones sold today. Another problem i have with them is there is never enough of some pieces. I think individual pieces should be available for purchase instead of just the lame sets that are available or offer a better set that includes more of the pieces that we never seem to have enough of. I am not going to buy a dozen sets just so I have enough pieces even though i am sure that is the intentions of the manufacturers. The point is give us what we want and your company will grow, short us for our money and we will go elsewhere or buy different building toys.

This toy has stood the test of time (over 50 years maybe?). It is still a toy that will relate tots to history as well as constructive play. It's a toy that adults can use with children to develop building skills with problem solving. Not hi-tech perhaps, but basic skill development and PATIENCE, both the teacher and child. (67 year old grandfather)

After building with Legos and wooden blocks, Lincoln Logs is definitely a switch. They are a little more limiting, but I like that they force my kids to think on a different plane for building. I think that in the end, we will probably buy more logs so that we can make bigger constructions. I never think that one container of ANY building set is ever enough! :)
