I bought the K'nex gears for my 8 year old for Christmas. He has had so much fun with it! It comes with instructions to make 7 different machines. He has even tried to come up with his own inventions.

I bought this for my 8 year old son. At first he needed a little help learning how all the pieces connected (10 min) after that...he would spend hours in his room building all of the different objects (record player, egg beater, car window, ect.) Within the first week I think he had spent over 20 hours in his room working on it. It has now been 2 months and he continues to spend hours building different things with it. Each one takes him 1-2 hours and it is so cool to seem them work. He is so proud and it is a good self esteem builder. He loves it...with his allowance he has bought more k'nex. I don't think any of the pieces have broke and they seem very strong. I am very happy that I decided to buy this toy.

K'Nex Gears was bought for my six-year-old grandson for Christmas. He enjoys building cars with it and, five months later, is still enjoying playing. Some of the machines are still too sophisticated for him to build, but he's careful to put all the parts away in the box each time he gets it out. This toy will last and keep his interest for several more years: I plan to add additional sets to this one.

This is a great set for kids who like to learn how things work and it's just plain fun !

Grandma and Grandad purchased this and the 400 piece bucket set for my 7 year old daughter for Christmas. She has not stopped playing with it. These sets are a great addition / next toy for any kids who like my daughter, loves to build things.
The added bonus is this stuff is made in the USA. We don't buy things that are made in China which is an issue for kids toys, therefore so long as K'nex continues to be made in the USA we'll be buying it.

My grandson,6, is a lego nut and video game nut. He turned up his nose at this when he saw it. He took a 2nd look when his legos were finished. He liked it and played with it as long as he does his legos. When I made one of the preplanned objects, he said, cool! how did you do that? And, he ended up loving this. Very educational, thought provoking with the gears.

Our daughter builds with EVERYTHING, especially K'Nex and loved this item right away! Excellent item.

We bought this for our 7 year old grandson for Xmas last year, he loves it, I would definitely recommend it. He loves putting things together. On a rainy or snowy day, it is a great way to entertain him and his brother who is 5.

my son (7) has loved this set of k'nex. he built every one of the items it shows you how to build in the included booklet. they all worked. it was challenging, but he looked so satisfied and proud when he finished. a great buy.

My 7 year old Grandson was thrilled with this gift. He built one of the projects the next morning (with a little help).
