Spent the week with my 3 year old grandson and introduced him to Kid K'nex Railroad Pals. Much to my surprise, he loved it. I only say this as he is rarely occupied for long periods of time with any one toy. I sat with him building some of the characters shown on the box. I had him gather the pieces for the character by color and then allowed him to push the pieces into place as I guided his hands or held the pieces in position. He would then add his own pieces to the constructed model. He quickly got the hang of connecting the pieces and occupied himself with constructing characters from his own imagination. Great fun toy to play with your child or for them to play with alone.

Good intro to building with wheels concepts
Fuels imagination
Encourages creativity
Enhances color identification and spatial recognition

We have a regular kid knex set without the legos pieces, but over the years my boys have lost many of the pieces. They were happy to get a new kid knex set, it comes with ideas but also lets them just do their own thing and build.

I bought this for my great nephew, and his mother told me he will love it. He is 3 and loves trains but lately has been really enjoying building things so this is best of both worlds.
