Don't know if this will be the case on all toilets, but this seat will not stay up on ours. I'm a woman, so it doesn't affect me, but regardless of your opinion on seat up/seat down, the poor guys shouldn't have to hold up the seat while they're ...well, you know. Their aim isn't that great to begin with, now they have to do it one-handed?

CORRECTION AND UPDATE: The person who commented that it was my installation was correct - there was nothing wrong with this seat. In the geek world we call that an ID10T error. I went through several more seats before noticing the good samaritan's comment about installation.

I finally ended up with the type of seat with a dampened hinge (maybe not the right description) that causes the seat to lower slowly and gently. Way cool, until you visit someone else's home and drop their seat with a bang. :)

What, no one wants to be the first to rate a toilet seat...?

This seat/lid set looks and feels cheap. The seat is thin plastic, not as comfortable as a tradition rounded wooden one. The lid is also thin plastic, and bows under the weight of a 180-pound person. The screws are metal, which is better than the flimsy silicon ones sold with many other seats.

The price was great, and now we know why. Would not buy again.

Two toilet seats - should be a boring purchase. They showed up - exactly the items I expected - just one day after I ordered them with free shipping. Now that's real excitement!

What can I say, it's a toilet seat. The shipping was Amazon quality fast and it was super easy to install, for 16 bucks what a steal.

Needed a toilet seat for our elongated Toto toilet. The Kohler Biscuit color matched perfect to the Toto Sedona Beige color.

I ordered 2 of these Brevia seats for my 10 year old Kohler Santa Rosa toilets in July of 2011. I also noticed on my Santa Rosa toilets that the top of the toilet is not flat where the toilet seat sits. The seats are made of polypropolene. The plastic flexes enough when you sit on it allowing the pads on the seat to rest on the toilet. This is probably a design/manufacturing defect with the Kohler toilets. The seats clean easily and I used the original plastic bolts as they were larger in diameter than the smaller stainless bolts that came with the new units. One of the new units that I received also had non-slip rubber washers that also prevent the seat from moving around. I am not sure why the other unit did not have these washers but I did notice the hardware bag had been punctured as if someone had installed the seat and did not like it and returned it.
The original seats were in great condition but I could not figure out where the musty smell in the bathroom was coming from for 2 months. I dumped clorox in every port in the toilet and the smell permeated everything in the bathroom. The clorox just drowned the musty smell for a day. I removed the old seat and took it outside and in a couple of days the smell was gone in the bathroom. The strong musty smell stayed with the old toilet seat I removed and I surmise that the plastic had been out gassing and probably toxic.
For the price I figure if they last 10 years without out gassing they are still a good value. I believe these Brevia seats will no longer be made as the new quick release/self closing mounting systems will be adopted.
The new quick release seats for cleaning to me seem as though they would be very susceptible to sliding around and popping off the mount. That is why I avoided the new style. However I do like the slow close feature of the new seats.

This seat is not a particularly good fit on - guess what? - a brand new Kohler toilet! It extends beyond the bowl at the back corners and is not quite flush with the front rim. This, along with the short bumpers under the seat, make it difficult to get your fingers underneath to lift both lids simultaneously. The seat is pretty comfortable though as it is wide and has a natural inward slope. The product is fairly sturdy for plastic and it comes with stainless steel hardware. Kohler should have provided a cone nut or washer to keep the seat from shifting around on the bowl which it does fairly easily.

It is a very nice seat and looks wonderful on the toilet. It is easy to clean and the only thing I wish is that it was softer, but I knew that when I bought it. It is a wonderful product.

The Brevia elongated seat is inexpensive, but seems well-made and was easy to install on my new Kohler Cimarron toilet. The surfaces are smooth and molded so that cleaning is easy. It looks attractive, I have one in white and one in biscuit to match the new toilets we installed.
