Great toilet seat for toddlers,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: KOHLER K-4732-0 Transitions Quiet-Close Toilet Seat, White (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have a 2 1/2 year old that is being potty trained. We have an elongated toilet in our main floor powder room where she uses the bathroom the most. Two problems with that: 1) our child seat was for standard toilets so it moved around and she never felt comfortable going to the potty by herself. 2) Having to remove and replace the child seat whenever we had guests. We recently installed the Kohler Transition toilet seat and she absolutely loves it. She feels so safe sitting on the child ring that she now wants to use the potty by herself and all the time...even when she doesn't have to go potty. The quiet close feature is an added bonus, because I don't have to worry about the toilet seat slamming down on her fingers when she sets the seat down. Another great thing about the seat is that we don't have to remove the child seat whenever guests come over...they just lift it up to expose the adult ring or lift it up completely. I plan on purchasing another seat for her bathroom upstairs.

We love these seats and have them installed on all 3 of our toilets. Now we don't have to worry about where to store the children's seats or worry about the kids dropping their seats in the toilet. :) The child seat does NOT "poke" an adult when it is up.
Also, love the quiet close and the fact that you can take it off to clean under back where it attaches to the toilet. Plan on getting these seats for the new house too! -----------UPDATE--------- Kohler had to replace one of the seats because one of the "latches" that keep them on the toilet broke. They all now have weak "latches" which allows them to move around on the toilet base. We will not be buying these for the new house and no longer recommend them. We'll be looking for a different brand that doesn't use cheap plastic.

I have two young boys and this seat works great for them. I don't have to worry about the seat falling down. The only thing that is not quiet about this seat is the cover (which is styled differently than the picture). The cover is not attached in the same way as the seats, so it doesn't close slowly/quietly.

Bad Plastic,

I bought 2 of these at Home Depot. After 14 months, one of the covers came off in my hand. Further inspection revealed that the plastic used in the hinge cylinders that govern the closing had virtually disintegrated. That which was not already powder could be rendered into powder with very little effort or pressure. I checked the other seat - one that is used very little - and though it was not in quite the same condition, it was obvious that the plastic component would be there soon. Home Depot took them back & I bought a different seat. Good idea, bad execution.

almost perfect,
This review is from: KOHLER K-4732-0 Transitions Quiet-Close Toilet Seat, White (Tools & Home Improvement)
We just got this toilet seat for our 2 year old son. It was easy to install, and looks fine (I've seen the reviews that said it looks odd, but it really looks more odd in the picture here than it does on our toilet). The seat is solid and sturdy, and should be easy to clean. I love that the inner edge of the toddler ring on this one curves down to completely cover the gap between it and the adult ring, and the adult ring as well, so urine can't get in between the seats to leave a ring on the adult seat (looks like lots of complaints about that with other brands of training seats). I can't imagine the toddler seat hitting me in the back while sitting on the toilet--I tried, since I read this complaint in other posts. I had to lean really far back to even touch it.
My one and only reservation is the opening in the toddler seat is quite long from front to rear. My son seemed to like sitting at the rear best, where he can have a bit of support under him at the back, but he can't get there by himself, so I either need to lift him back there, or let him perch on the front himself (where I urine will head out to the floor, rather than into the toilet--wouldn't be a problem with girls). Maybe as he gets a little older, taller, better at climbing/maneuvering, and more comfortable on the toilet, this won't be a problem. Overall, very highly recommended.

funny looking, but great toilet seat!,

Ok, so I got this seat not really knowing how it was going to look/function. For an elongated seat it's really weird, but just narrow enough my 2 y.o. daughter doesn't fall in. The top lid does not have the quiet close feature and will slam down like any other plastic toilet seat. However, if it is closed along with either of the other 2 parts of the seat it really is a quiet close.
Upon reading reviews on Amazon and the internet some people complain about the toddler seat hitting you in the back. It did not occur to me until I ordered it and received it that you must keep in mind that for a normal/ average sized adult this will not be an issue. For those who are overweight, bordering on obesity, yes, it will hit you in the back so consider a removable seat if that is going to be an issue for you. I plan on ordering another one for the downstairs bathroom and getting rid of her other potty seats because it is such a pain to remove and set somewhere and more importantly having to clean out potties after each use, yuck! It also gets rid of the potential for the dog to drink out of the toilet...lid closed = no water for the dog, portable potty seat on = dog can stick tongue down into bowl which = mess & yuck!

I love this toilet seat, my son can easily operate it and I was hoping it would last until my 15 month old baby girl started to be toilet trained, but it is already borken! The plastic that cover the bolts broke and the seat keeps coming off the toilet because it is supposed to be "easy to remove" for cleaning purposes...I wich they didn't have that feature because now we will have to trash 2 very expensive toilet seats and think about something else that works so well but lasts loger, so disappointed :(

The seat is nice. The two seats that you sit on lower slowly so no more slamming the seats. The overall quality is so so. The plastic it is made of is thinner than it should be. I am a large guy (6'-3" 260lbs) and when I sit on it I have to be careful. The hinges that lock it to the base are also less sturdy than i would have expected. Overall - unless I find one that is better, this is worth buying - it just should sell for about $15 less.

Good concept. BAD implementation and design!!,

We thought that this would be the perfect seat for our son -but it is horribly designed. The quick hinges are a good idea, but in practice they allow the seat to literally fall apart with even the slightest force (like that of seating). It arrived without the center hinges - so there was nothing keeping the adult and child seats together. This is horrible product - dont waste your time or money. Would give ZERO STARS if possible.

I ordered this after reading the great reviews. We use a Baby Bjorn potty ring and I thought this would be great. We have a standard sized toilet. This seat doesn't fit it. It fits it more like it's oblong. The front of the seat hung over the front of our toilet a good 3 inches. It also doesn't have a splash guard like the Bjorn ring. The plastic is hard and it's very uncomfortable for adults to sit on. The lid doesn't close slowly. If you are looking for something like the Bjorn potty ring, keep looking.
