KONG Cloud E-Collar is a comfortable, inflatable e-collar that doesn't interfere with your pet's peripheral vision or their ability to eat and drink. Greats for dogs and cats recovering from surgery or wounds, these collars are washable, scratch and bite-resistance and will not mark up floors or furniture. Available in five sizes. For larger breeds with longer limbs, or breeds in between sizes, always size up. Always monitor your pet to ensure collar is working properly. Some pets may be able to maneuver around any collar.

If you have a dog who has a body or back leg wound, this would work.
Jeri
Cons: The collar does not inflate easily - it needs one of those valves that you pinch to release the air.

The Kong Cloud is so much better and he's much more comfortable in it!

I bought this for my little 9lb shih tzu for after he was neutered and I am SO GLAD that I did! The vet sent him home with one of the standard e-collars and neither I nor my dog were especially excited about it...

This inflatable collar was apparently comfortable enough for Wicket (my dog) to sleep in and he didn't struggle at all when I put it on or off of him. He could eat, drink and play with his toys without any problems at all, yet he wasn't able to lick or bite at his incision site at all.

There were no issues (as he healed enough!) with him even going up or down our stairs or jumping up on the couch. And it didn't look as ridiculous on him either.

I HIGHLY recommend these collars over the cone-style collars.

My 7lb cat had a hernia operation that required the use of an Elizabethan cone for 10 days. She was sent home with the floppy kind that could be worn down over her body, but she's so small and the fabric was so long that she kept tripping over it. I went back to the vet to get the standard hard plastic collar, which my cat couldn't remove but was clearly uncomfortable for her. She was bumping into everything and falling off the furniture. She couldn't eat, drink or use the litter properly and, when the poor thing started to walk backwards in an attempt to get away from the cone I couldn't bear it any longer and just removed it. While searching for an alternative, I found this inflatable collar and it has been, by far, the best one for my cat. It was large enough so that she couldn't worry her stitches, but not so large that it affected her ability to judge distance, so she wasn't walking into things. She was able to eat, drink, sleep and use the litter box freely. The velcro strip in the front holds it on tightly, but doesn't press against her throat she didn't even try to remove it. She still gave me dirty looks, but at least her stitches remained intact.

Jeremiah, my 3lb Yorkie was scheduled to be neutered. I was watching "It's Me or the Dog" on The Animal Channel and saw a similar product in the show. I have had dogs all my life
And have used the conventional E-collars in the past and know how hard they are to keep on a small dog. I found this collar on line at Amazon and ordered it. It was reasonably priced and was shipped promptly. When Jeremiah had his surgery I took the collar to the Vets and dropped it off with him. Because it used his collar to fasten to his neck there was no way he could remove it! I was able to leave him at home while I worked with no worries that he would chew on his incision. An added bonus was that
Instead of making it hard for him to lay down the Collar actually worked as a pillow. The Vet tech said he was going to see about ordering some for their patients. I am very pleased with this product and would recommend
It to other owners!

I got this for my little 10lb maltipoo after she was spayed. It was less intrusive than the standard e-collar, and allows her to play with her toys. It fit perfectly. This works for spays or other stomach surgery, but if you're buying this for an animal that has had surgery on their limbs or genitals (nueter) this won't work. She was able to bite at her back legs and cootie :)

However, for my purposes it was great and made a huge difference in her personality.

UPDATE:

Less than two days after posting this review my puppy was able to not only chew a hole in this collar, but subsequently chew out her stitches. I have an 8 month old maltipoo. If this isn't sturdy enough to withstand a toy breed puppy, it's not made well at all.

Waste of money, good idea, but waste of money.

This product is an excellent alternative to an E-Collar (aka the Cone of Shame). It is far more comfortable than a hard plastic cone, doesn't interfere with hearing or peripheral vision, and allows our six month old rescue kitten Peanut to eat, drink and sleep more or less normally. The instructions that come with the collar are woefully inadequate so here are a few tips that will help your pet adjust to the collar quickly and comfortably. (1) Start out with just enough air in the collar to barely inflate it, then test-fit it to your pet. You'll notice that the collar with self-inflate to some degree depending on the circumference of your pet's neck. You want to add air in tiny amounts until the collar just holds a donut shape but still has plenty of "give" for a comfortable fit. (2) Fine tune the fit using the Velcro strap. During the day we leave a 1/2 to 3/4 inch gap between the ends of the collar for a more comfortable fit. Don't assume you have to cinch the ends tight like the photos. (3) The Cloud is somewhat oval-shaped and the Velcro end is shorter than the opposite end. Orienting the Velcro end "down" allows for more comfortable sleeping. You may want to slightly decrease the amount of air in the collar and close the gap when you do this so your pet's neck is comfortably supported. (4) Be sure to push the inflation valve into the pillow so it doesn't stick out and cause your pet discomfort. (5) Some reviewers say you need to use the Cloud with your pet's collar but we haven't found that to be the case - once we got the fit right our little guy quit trying to squirm out of it. I also have concerns about that a collar/Cloud combo could be a potential choking hazard and would rather have it come off than cause injury.Read more ›
