Product Description

The KM-202 KAOSS Mixer merges the effects and revolutionary interface from the KAOSS Pad, six different types of EQ, and an adjustable crossfader curve to deliver a most unique DJ mixer. With the innovative KAOSS pad, you manipulate effects using the tip of your finger. The unique touchpad changes multiple effect parameters at once to create unique timbres. The simple and intuitive interface has made the KAOSS Pad one of the most popular effects processors in the world. The two-channel KM-202 combines the KAOSS Pad's effects and interface with a pristine 24-bit digital DJ mixer complete with adjustable crossfader. Their streamlined design and integrated KAOSS Pad allows a style of mixing and performing with effects that is unequaled. With one hundred effects programs, a "PROGRAM MEMORY" key for quick save and instant recall of your favorite programs, an "FX RELEASE" function that keeps delay and reverb tails intact through preset changes, and a "KAOSS" button for assigning the KAOSS Pad to each channel, the KM-202 is the ideal choice for every type of DJ wanting to incorporate effects into their performance, no matter where the stage is. As you would expect from a full-featured DJ mixer, long throw faders and cue controls let you set the mix and lock your beats in real time while cueing silently through your headphones. The Korg MK-202 mixer's crossfader response is as personal as the DJ using it. The adjustable crossfader curves and calibration function let you set up the mixer to your personal style. Whether you're mixing dual decks, triggering from a laptop or integrating other sound sources, the KM-202 adapts to your style and personal touch.

5.0 out of 5 stars 98% satisfied!!!! Great Buy!!!, October 22, 2007

This review is from: KORG 2 CH MIXER WITH KAOSS PAD (Electronics)
I actually chose the 2 channel over the 4 channel because I preferred the layout with the Kaoss Pad directly between the channel EQ's. The Kaoss Pad inside is almost identical to the Mini KP except it features a third memory bank. You can read reviews on the Mini KP for more info but I'll tell you having this mixer makes me want to buy a Mini KP so I can take these effects with me on the road without lugging around my mixer.

Its cool that they have the different types of EQ's to select although I find myself only using "Isolator" mode because it offers full db kills. Having full kills makes a world of difference when it comes to blending dance music. Although the last mixer I had was nowhere close to full db kills and I felt it made me a better beat matcher because it was harder to mix on. Going to this mixer I immediately noticed how easier it was and how much better my mixing sounded. So for a beginner I would almost suggest they practice on one of the other EQ modes and save the "Isolator" mode for recordings and live performances.

The cross-fader is very smooth and ready for some serious scratching. I'd say there are two cons for turntablists though. NO reverse switch on the cross fader and the Line Faders aren't nearly as smooth as the cross fader. Not deal breakers for me but a few features some turntablists can't live without.

I also love the overall build and quality of this product. The top part is a nice glossy-type finish, but the corners are nice and rugged for protection. It also has a nice, clear, full sound. Everything I'd expect from a newer 24 bit mixer. I'd say the only con here is the EQ knobs could maybe be a little bigger and feel more durable. But the spacing between knobs is fine and I like the way they click at 0db.

Overall.......Extremely satisfied

PROS
$$ PRICE $$ You won't find a better bargain in my opinion.
24 bits of clarity
Sweet Effects Unit built-in that is equally capable and fun.
Selectable EQ modes and full channel kills.
Smooth Crossfader
Nice Build Quality

CONS
Small EQ knobs
Could use another LED or two on the meters that show your output volume.
No midi (what do you expect for a mixer under $500)
No Reverse Switch for cross fader
Line Faders not nearly as smooth as cross fader

5.0 out of 5 stars the hub of my set up, January 24, 2009
This review is from: KORG 2 CH MIXER WITH KAOSS PAD (Electronics)
within 2hours of opening the box, i ran= kp3, 400disc cdplayer, 8track recorder, phono, and my tv through the km202. very very cool, so many things to sample so little time, very clean sound, nothing lost. i thought two kaoss pads would clash, you do have to do some tweaking, but with the right eq and timing, you can come up with some really cool sounds. i echo the comments of the above review and add. w the kp3, you can take your sounds from records, cds, and cspan politicians and preachers, and sample them into your kp3 and save them in the memory. as a result i am amassing a very strange sample bank. before i had to manually connect which ever line i wanted to sample, now its all at the tip of my finger. not only for djs.
