Collecting paintings on porcelain plaques, particularly those produced by the KPM factory, has become quite a popular and widespread hobby.
KPM Plaques: Gaining an Insight into the Art of Painting on Porcelain addresses many questions asked by old and new collectors, and discusses information relating to the history of plaques and miniatures, various subject descriptions, value determinants, and techniques in distinguishing the authenticity of KPM plaques.
Illustrated with hundreds of high-quality photographs, this book is like a work of art itself.
From the Authors: Our fascination with KPM plaques began with our first encounter with a plaque portraying Beatrice cenci in 1990. We were astounded with the way the light played through the translucent porcelain, and how beautifully the portrait was painted - we knew that we had to have it. We came to realize that it is impossible to buy just one plaque, for it becomes a driving passion to collect as many as you can find (or afford).
Fifteen years and hundreds of porcelain plaques later, we are still mesmerized whenever we gaze at our collection. Much time and effort on our part has been devoted to collecting and researching continental and particularly KPM plaques. We continue to seek new information as well as new plaques, and are also happy to provide advice on authenticity of plaques as well as answer questions or requests for certain plaques that you may see in this book.
If you are interested in receiving more information on particular plaques, would like to buy or sell plaques, or have any questions please email us at email@example.com. We sincerely hope that this book will aid you in your encounters with the wonderous art that is painting on porcelain.
