My son got this not too long ago. He is 8 and was able to build this with a little help quite fast. At first I didn't know why it needed batteries because I didn't see any lights but when I turn it on I found out a piece vibrates...I still didn't know why. When everything was built we figured it out. When everything is where it belongs and you turn it on the vibration makes a shark and a swimmer "swim" in the blue ocean! It was super cool. We have never seen anything like that with Legos and this set was way more affordable. My son played for hours. He put it together and destroyed it and put it back in other ways but if he wanted he could put it back the way is supposed to because the instructions are clear. There were 2 pieces that were loose but they were not important pieces to build the game. I would recommend it for kids 6 and up with help from the parents to build it if necessary. Great value and fun for your dollar.

We got the Kre-o Marina Madness for free thanks to Bzz agent.
Since we got the Marina Madness, the kids played with it 5 days out 7 so because of this we decided to get one of the kids an early birthday present, and we did it for various reasons, the first one is that these line helps kids develop motor skills. It keeps the kids entertain for hours, love the fact that it teaches them to keep trying and don't give up, they just keep trying to build no matter what. Team play, never seen to kids 4 years apart play together and help each other in such a peaceful environment, no screaming just sharing.
My kid in particular wanted the KRE-O City Ville Invasion Haunted because he noticed is a Haunted Castle and he said it was almost Halloween, it is a 300+ set and it might look difficult for a almost 7 years old, but that's part of the toy, the challenge, besides that, the instructions are simple and easy to understand.
He loves the sonic Motion brick, of course the noise gets the kids attention as soon as its assembled, because of this noise this set needs 3 batteries for it to work properly.
The skeletron figures are great, love the detail on the face, very impressive.
Over all this line of City Ville Kre-o toys fits great in my house, kids love it and that means happy kids, happy parents.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
After I opened the box and assessed the contents and handled a number of the pieces by putting together one of the little characters, the first thing I noted was that they are tiny! I mean teensy, weensy, itty bitty. I took some photos and, if Mamazon will allow, I will upload a couple. (An assembled figure was about the size of a push pin.)

Now, I realize that the toy is for children with small hands, but the resulting "toy" they have to actually play with after building is complete is going to be pretty small.

Then this product was turned over to my 7-year-old grandson for real life testing with a real, live kid.

His Dad reports that he took it home and spent pretty much every waking moment (when not in school, at baseball practice, doing homework, etc.) putting it together. He used the enclosed instructions and almost never asked for assistance. He really "worked" at it and seemed to really enjoy it. It took four days.

Once it was together, he simply lost interest and paid no further attention to it.

I waited two weeks and then asked the Grandboy how he liked it. His report, "It's OK." When I asked if he plays with it, he looked puzzled and then said, "No. It's finished."

So, my conclusion is that, for some children at least, the value in the toy will be in the assembling, not in the playing-with.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I have two children and a houseful of Lego bricks. Years ago, after a miserable experience with a Mega Bloks building set, I swore I would never buy anything but Lego again. The great reviews from others about KRE-O, however, gave me hope, and I decided to give this set a try. I'm so glad I did... it's wonderful!

This set builds a little vampire castle, and includes vampire and human minifigures. The design is very cute, the instructions are detailed and clear, and the bricks themselves are made of a high-quality plastic - reasonably comparable to modern Lego. Even better, the set includes sound effects, and a cool vibration-based motion technology that makes it extra fun to play with once it's built. All this for way less than a similarly-sized Lego set would cost... overall, a very nice, frustration-free building set recommended for any little ones who like to build and play!

Kre-O has left me cold in the past. I love Star Trek and bought all of the Into Darkness sets as soon as they were released. I was very disappointed and vowed to never purchase another Kre-O product. Lego is the gold standard and after building their sets, anything else is substandard. But then I saw this Haunted Hideaway set. The price was right at $19.99 for 317 pieces. And I liked the over all look of the set, hoping that it would fit in with my Lego Monster Fighters. But I was reluctant to buy it because it is Kre-O. I went ahead and pulled the trigger and purchased the set and can now say that I was pleasantly surprised. The pieces seemed to be of better quality that than the earlier Star Trek sets and I was able to get them to fit together and stay together well. The set has an action and sound feature that I haven't tried yet, so I can't speak to that, but the figures come with little rubber-bottomed pieces that use vibration to move them around the set. I tried them out by knocking on the table and they seemed to work well. I think that this set would work for a collector (me) and for children as it is fun and spooky and has action features. If you've passed over Kre-O in the past, take another look at these new sets. They're not Lego, but seem to be getting better in quality and are a good value for the price.
