Product Description

KRE-O CityVille Invasion Police Station Zombie Defense (A3250)

It started out as a relatively quiet day at the CityVille Police Station. Deputy Strong and his team had successfully cracked down on a couple troublemakers. Nothing so dangerous that the wife and kids at home would have to worry, but not so smooth that you didn't feel you deserved a nice jelly-filled from the daily donut drop when all was said and done. When they picked up a high-school teenager drooling outside the advanced organic chemistry class, Deputy Strong and Chief Zito thought it was just another case of a kid clownin' around on school time. Turns out the kid was infected with a zombie virus created by the evil Dr. Mayhem as part of his plan to take over the city! After snacking on his cellmate and chomping on the Chief, the kid had turned two more citizens into zombies - and that's when the rampage began. Now the zombies are on the loose and on the attack. Dr. Mayhem's evil plan is working. You have to defend your city from invasion.

The KRE-O CityVille Invasion Police Station Zombie Defense building set lets you create a chaotic crime-fighting scene all centered around the CityVille police station. Two officers, Deputy Strong and Sergeant Baker, haven't been infected. They'll have to round up the Zombie Teen, Zombie Bandit and their zombified boss, Chief Zito. Put up police barricades to contain the zombies. Imagine you're examining clues about the outbreak in the lab. Man the zombie-blasting cannon and try and slow the attack. Hit the streets and catch invading zombies in the police car equipped with a zombie capture claw, then lock them up the zombie jail cell. CityVille KREONs may have bricks for brains, but that won't bother the KRE-O zombies (they like their meals extra crunchy).

The KRE-O CityVille Invasion Police Station Zombie Defense building set includes 5 motion bricks and 1 Sonic Motion brick that you can use to put your city in motion. The Sonic Motion brick not only lets you create movement, but produces sounds at the same time. Use the Sonic Motion brick to activate the rotating zombie blasting cannon or the spinning search beacon and hear police sounds as they move. Put a KREON figure on top of a motion brick and it will move around the set. You can imagine your city is coming to life!

The boys are hooked on zombies like most kids their age and loved the theme of this set.

The quality of the pieces is pretty good and, although not quite as high quality as Lego bricks, they are compatible with them.

The Sonic Motion brick also provides some atmospheric sound effects for your child's battle against the zombie hoards.

I ordered this for my 9-year-old son. I can't imagine a better substitute for a Lego set than a KRE-O zombie apocalypse. When your child is tired of LOTR or the Hobbit or Indiana Jones or all the other movie Lego sets he owns, try zombies. That's one Lego isn't likely to cover. The set arrived yesterday afternoon and my son has done little but play with it ever since.

The KRE-O CityVille Invasion Police Station Zombie Defense Set is, in a word, cute, in a grisly sort of way. You have to see the faces of the figures to believe them. You get a small police station on a base, a station equipped with a search light and a rather large caliber anti-aircraft gun, though I imagine it's supposed to be used on the zombie hordes. You also get a police car with a claw on the back and a giant syringe to use to administer the antidote to the zombies.

The station assembles fairly easily - it took me about an hour - though I'm pretty certain my son would have had a difficult time completing it at all, given the nature of the instructions, which are not always clear (for one thing, the colors shown do not match the bricks provided, which caused me some confusion at first).

I only seemed to be missing one piece, a sort of sled-like piece (it's called a "motion brick") that apparently the figures are supposed to use to vibrate over the base when the Sonic Motion brick is activated, rather like the old vibrating football game some of us played with as kids. Sadly, the technology doesn't work and all the little figures do is sort of vibrate in place. My son doesn't seem to care, however. Like any little boy he just moves the figures around on his own.

The Sonic Motion brick also provides some atmospheric sound effects for your child's battle against the zombie hoards.

Just as other reviewers have mentioned, the quality of KRE-O is less than compared to LEGO. However, it's not bad quality, just not stellar. I consider LEGO to be 'stellar', the best out there. KRE-O is about 80% there.

But look at the pricing comparison. We all know LEGO is expensive as all get out, so KRE-O is a decent affordable alternative.

That said, my 8-year-old son loves this. I got it with a playmobil Santa's Home and he loves playing 'when zombies invade Santa's house'.

One reviewer mentioned that LEGO would have nothing to do with zombies. Not true, just check out "LEGO Zombie" or better yet, "LEGO zombie apocalypse" on images of your favorite search engine and you will be amazed. But I digress.

This is a great set for kids. My son and his friends go crazy with their imaginations when playing it.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Overall this KRE-O set is more or less as satisfying as any of the prior sets I have reviewed. They're generally nice and varied, have clear instructions, and are compatible with other brands of building blocks. Where this set specifically falls short is that the movement block feels gimmicky, the mini-figs aren't the cool articulated ones found in the transformers set, and set itself kind of seems shod together with awkward pieces.

The movement of the pieces is achieved by a shaking motor that vibrates the plate everything is built on. The mini-figs, or as they call them Kreons, are then allowed to move by attaching them to smooth bases that then shimmy all over the set with vibrations. It reminds me of those old vibration football games only with less of an objective. Ultimately it just doesn't really seem to add anything to the enjoyment of the set.

The Kreons included in this set are like a slimmed down version of LEGO mini-figs. Prior sets I had seen had really cool, slightly larger figures which had several points of articulation that made them a little more interesting. These are a bit more straight forward.

The design of the set is also strange. There's a lot of stacking of lesser pieces to achieve otherwise standard piece sizes. While not a big deal it does seem to add and element of assembly/dis-assembly that seems unnecessary. Sometimes dismantling some of these composite pieces can also be difficult to actually achieve.

Outside of this kit, the app on the app store is pretty cool and purchasing qualifying Kre-O sets unlocks characters and other bonuses within the game.

my son is a huge lego fan. he was very excited to try this set out. usually he builds quickly and easily. this set threw him for a loop. not only were the instructions NOT as easy as legos but this had stickers and other things he didn't want to concern himself with at all. cute idea but not for him

The overal fun factor of the whole zombie apocalypse cannot be denied. My purchase nicely coincides with Halloween, and the kids have had some truly original play scenarios that they hadn't dreamt up with any of their other playsets, so it's great for the imagination in that regard.

The level of difficulty is not overly great and the age recommendation starting at 7 seems appropriate... much younger than that and they will lack the attention span and ability to follow instructions in order to build everything. Once together, though, even younger children will enjoy playing with the set... in that sense, as long as they're old enough that you needn't worry about the choking hazard, you will be their hero for purchsing this.

The quality is good: blocks are small and durable, and stick together well.

Definitely a worthy addition to any building block collection!
