Great product, June 14, 2010
This review is from: KT TAPE Original Cotton Elastic Kinesiology Theraeputic Tape - 24 Pre-Cut 10" Strips (Sports)
After responding to the only other review, I feel like I should add a review so that others can see my experience as well. I have had a great experience with this product. The instructions on how to apply the tape are very clear cut. My only problem was that the first time I used it I was so eager to try it out I didn't head the instruction to allow an hour or more after application before partaking in heavy physical exercise. However, on subsequent uses, I have found this product to work wonderfully. I run long distances in 85 degree, 90% humidity weather (5 am) and it stays on very well. I have worn it through showers, toweling off, to other exercise classes, to bed, etc. It holds up very well. As soon as I put it on I can feel a lot of support in the area "of pain" as they put it. (I use it on a leg that I formerly had a stress fracture on and sometimes still feel aches/shin splints). During my runs I feel supported the entire time and I don't even feel like there is "tape" on me-- it feels more like I am wearing a very thin knee sock (although this doesn't make me feel hot or anything). I think it is a great product and I would definitely recommend it! One other tip I would give (it is actually an instruction, but I recommend you follow it): clean the area where you will put the tape-- I swab my shin/calf area with apple cider vinegar or facial toner, but I am sure wiping it down with water and drying it would be just as effective. Also, make sure to follow the direction not to overlap tape more than necessary-- the tape is made to stick to skin and doesn't stay put as well if you allow it to stick to the tape more than they instruct.

Application notes, August 6, 2010

To address some issues with KT Tape staying on for 5 days or longer.
Before attempting to apply tape, be sure to wash your hands with soap to remove any oils then dry them thoroughly.
DO NOT Touch tape surface while applying.
Take time to smooth out tape once it is applied. DO NOT stretch tape at end. Especially one inch from the end or it will not adhere to your skin for long.
People with hairy legs and body parts...
SHAVE your legs in the areas will tape will be applied. Yes, these means you too guys! Cyclists and runners usually do anyway.
DO NOT resume physical activity for approximately one hour after applying. This allows the acrylic adhesive to bond to your skin more thoroughly.
After showering, bathing, swimming... use a towel to 'pat' dry the tape, do not rub the surface.
If you follow these simple steps your KT Tape application WILL stay on at least 5 days. I highly recommend you watch the videos on [...] and pause the video as necessary. do not be in a hurry, have a helper available as needed.
Please have a professional diagnosis performed before using KT Tape. Most chiropractors, PT and sports medicine doctors will have experience with KT Tape.
Closing note:
I have had an ITBS taping application stay intact for almost two weeks! I bicycle approximately 150 miles per week so it's not like I'm not moving. And by the way, I applied it myself.
Not exactly a KT Tape spokesman but... I'm working on it.

Good product, but others even better., June 6, 2011

First, about this tape. I have been diagnosed w/petellar tendonitis. As an avid cyclist this is severely limiting. This tape properly applied gets me riding for longer distances again. Depending on your condition this stuff is a game changer. It does not last the 3-4 days as advertised. I even shaved the area where I apply it to give maximum contact. I don't think it would last long on a very hairy arm or leg. Search Youtube for instructions how to apply it (kt taping or kt knee taping, etc.).
Second, about this tape compared to ROCKTAPE Rocktape. I bought both originally to compare the two. While both tapes work very well for my condition, the Rock Tape stays put much longer. The adhesive just works better. After one shower the KT Tape starts to pull off while I can get 3 or 4 showers before I pull off the Rock tape. I don't leave it on longer than four days but the Rock Tape seems to stay put even past that point. I have even tried both tapes in the hot tub for a post workout soaking. Once again, Rock Tape stays in place and KT Tape is flapping in the water after a few minutes. This essentially means that the KT Tape is 2X as expensive since you have to apply it twice as often. I guess this doesn't matter if you are a weekend warrior, but if you workout at least every other day then you will be getting at least two workouts and possibly three per application with the Rock Tape. With KT Tape you will get one active workout and maybe two if you are lucky.
KT Tapes works great. It just doesn't last as long as the Rock Tape for the same performance. Hope this helps.
