The next thing to go out was the high hat foot controller and "brain" (they were not certain which).

I wanted a good set of electronic drums to play in my house without disturbing the whole family. I looked at a set of used Roland's but decided to buy a new set of Kat drums at a cheaper price. I don't think you can beat the Roland brand but you have to pay top dollar for them. I just wanted a quality product that sounded good for personal use. My brother owns a set of Roland td6 drums and he played a set of Kats and said he would opt to buy the new Kat over the used Roland's. I purchased the KT2 set and I must say I love them. All of the toms are dual heads and the controller is awesome. You can do just about anything you want to. Set up was very easy (about an hour). The only thing I can say that I'm not 100% happy with is the ride cymbal. It is not as loud as the crash but I ordered the expansion pack that includes another head and crash cymbal. I would defiantly recommend these drums!

This was a gift for our son who is a percussionist and a member of a jazz band. He is moving to an apartment and needed an authentic sounding drum set for practicing which would not be a problem for near by neighbors. He reports that with headphones he can practice and listen without disturbing anyone else.

Compared to those those $900+ Rolands this thing is quite nice. I got it in the mail yesterday night and just finished my second 2 hour metal session with it. (I still cant get over the fact that i can play drums at 10:30 at night lol.) I'm a drummer of 4 years and needed a kit in my house that I could play without disturbing people.

Pros:

-SENSITIVE pads. Rim shots, velocity detection, ghost notes can be heard, rolls, no problem.

-Kick works very well with double bass. Never missed a trigger so far.(I go pretty fast.. or try to at least haha)

-Full size chokeable/ velocity detecting cymbals are nice.

-Tons of sound customizations for cymbals and pads. Sensitivity, Loudness, pitch, etc.

-High hat pedal is responsive

-Pretty easy to set up. There's a video on youtube that helped me out, but should be no problem for anyone to set up a second time from memory.

-Cage is all metal

-Light, yet sturdy. Cage doesnt move at all.

-Great for recording

-Pretty quiet pads

Cons:

-Kick pad moved back and forth too much with consistent double bass and messed up my mojo at some times. I just taped a 10 lb. dumbell to the back of the pad now it stays in place just fine. The movement could have been result of my pedals, which is probably the case because no one else seems to have this problem. Nonetheless, I feel like I shouldn't have to tape a dumbell to the back of the kick pad so it can stay in place. Not a huge deal for me cuse i'm not gonna be playing shows with it, but someone who is looking to play gigs with this kit should note this flaw. It wont be a problem for someone who doesn't use double bass. Just so you guys know, it doesn't come with a pedal.
