4.0 out of 5 stars Easy and Affordable Solution
Bought this item when it was $50, and worth every dollar. I'm currently a student at a university, living in an apartment. I was hoping to find a way to use my 22" lcd as a TV for game consoles, as well as a TV. The product looks sleek and delivers exactly what it states it will. 1.0 out of 5 stars not "high quality image"
Eventually returned this item. While the device itself is a good idea, the lack of image quality, specifically the image jumping around all the time, was too much to handle. Its cheap and poorly made, and it shows.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy and Affordable Solution, July 22, 2008

Bought this item when it was $50, and worth every dollar. I'm currently a student at a university, living in an apartment. I was hoping to find a way to use my 22" lcd as a TV for game consoles, as well as a TV. The product looks sleek and delivers exactly what it states it will. Sure, outputting from my PS3 at 720p doesn't look as sharp as it could on an hdtv, but its hundreds of dollars cheaper and gets the job done well enough.

PIP feature is very nice. Noticed that the stand doesn't really work when all the cables are attached; the weight tips it over. Not too much of a problem, I just lay it on its side.

One issue potential buyers may worry about is the quality out to the monitor through the VGA, or the quality of the audio through the unit out to speakers. Audio from my pc into the box, then out again to my speakers is not very good. Audio from the box (from a game console), however, out to speakers is crisp and good quality. VGA out from a PC to the monitor through the box is fuzzy. I just run a DVI connection out to my monitor, as well as the VGA and switch between the two.

In all, a good product for $50 and an easy solution to convert a PC monitor to a TV.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Device, July 19, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kworld 1680ex External TVBox (Personal Computers)
I purchased this device to be able to turn an old lcd computer monitor into a stand-alone tv. For this purpose, the device is excellent. The device is simple to set up, easy to program, and produces an excellent picture with standard cable reception. The device has a small built in speaker that I have not tried, and although it may be adequate, I am using inexpensive, plug-in computer speakers, that, I believe, would give a more wide range sound.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, July 18, 2008
This review is from: Kworld 1680ex External TVBox (Personal Computers)
I bought this a year ago for 50 bucks. Great converter allows me to play my ps2 (now ps3) on my computer monitor. Allows composite and YPBR Component hookups. Component looks so nice, the only thing I can think of as a negative is it's not HD compatible, but it works erfect as advertised. Also Great to convert your Monitor to watch television obiously (Standalone, no PC needed, just the monitor)

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to setup & use, March 13, 2008

I bought this product to take advantage of a 23" LCD monitor I had laying around. It was very easy to setup and did the job it said it would. I use it with a Directv receiver so I only needed it to tune to channel 3 or 4. The picture looks pretty good. In the future I make hook it up to an HD receiver and see what the picture looks like.

I have another LCD monitor that needs a tuner. Maybe when this item goes down in price I'll pick up another one.

4.0 out of 5 stars kworld 1680ex worked OK, August 23, 2009
This review is from: Kworld 1680ex External TVBox (Personal Computers)
This product worked out of the box without too much pain.
I took an unused: LCD monitor, verizon/motorola cable box, and dvd player; hooked them together using the 1680ex and ran the audio to the AUX input on an AM/FM radio.
Everything works fine for a second tv/DVD in the computer room.
picture quality: OK, sound quality: good

Worked so well I went looking for the high definition version of this product but couldn't find it anywhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kworld does not disappoint !, July 20, 2009
This review is from: Kworld 1680ex External TVBox (Personal Computers)
Why a 5-star rating ? Only because I need the YPbPr input featured in the 1680ex. I use this to route my DVD component output to play on my LCD display with the 15 pin D-sub. There is no competing product in town the last I checked. The image output can be selected for 1680x1050, 1024x768 or 800x600 monitors, and selectable for 4:3 aspect ratio or 16:9, using either the buttons on the box itself or the same buttons on the remote. This is quite well thought out to allow different monitors or size to display the image.
BTW they provide the different connector cables for either composite/S-video or component inputs. You cannot do both S-video and component simultaneously. You use one or the other to plug into the gadget.
I have not tried the TV tuner but I have their ATSC tuner (a separate purchase) which provides an excellent reception via cable QAM. I cannot compare the image output of these too products because my DVD output only in 480P, while the cable reception is in 1080i.
Anyway, I am very happy that there is a product out there that allows DVD players to display output onto the standard LCDs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very useful device!, January 7, 2008
This review is from: Kworld 1680ex External TVBox (Personal Computers)
Easy to install, configurate and use. Works perfectly in Brazil. Many options of input cables. Its speaker sound quality could be improved. The dead batteries that came in the package for the remote control was the only problem that I had.
