Excellent Printing for its Era,

This review is from: KX-P2130 24-pin narrow carriage dot matrix printer (Electronics)
This is a classic example of the dot matrix printer (DMP). It is a versatile high-quality 24-pin DMP "designed to meet the needs of your office". It operates with most of the popular software packages including Windows 3.1. It automatically feeds up to 20 sheets, and has the usual tractor push drive for fan-fold paper. This printer has 3 draft fonts (Pica, Elite, and Micron) and 7 letter-quality fonts (Roman, Elite, Courier, Prestige, Script, OCR-B, Bold PS). The factory setting is to emulate the Epson LQ-860. The button on the printer Control Panel chooses the font. The head gap lever adjusts for thin or thick sheets (p.11).
The KX-P2130 uses a black ribbon cassette (KX-P160). The KX-P2135 can also use a color ribbon cassette (KX-P165). You can select "Super Quiet" from the Control Panel. Only a DMP can print carbon copies. Page 27 explains the adjustment to correct color bleeding. The "Printer Driver Section" explains the settings to use for programs that do not have an option for this printer. They are: KX-P2123, KX-P2124, KX-P2023, KX-P1124i, Epson LQ-860, IBM Proprinter X24E. You need a Windows printer driver for Windows 3.1. There is a software program (WIN31DMP.exe) that supports Panasonic DMP in Windows 95, 98, and Me. The 83 page "Operating Instructions" explain other features of this device. You can see how inkjet printers have simplified printing for users since the early 1990s.
