Great all around knife, from kitchen to field.
B.S.
Sheath has two snap fasteners, as the plastic insert doesn't provide any retention in the sheath, so once they are unsnapped, the knife can fall out pretty easy.

This knife feels great in the hand and is built very well.

It is one of the best kitchen knives I have ever used. It also could work very well in a combat situation against unruly potatoes, steaks, or burglars.

I really love this knife. It fits great in my hands - I wear a small glove size. The knife overall feels really light; and the blade is super sharp. Like everyone else, I really don't care much for the sheath, but it does have it's uses - molle compatible / belt ready, and a pouch for something small like a magnesium striker or small sharpening stone. I like the smooth contour of the grip, but be careful, it's smooth enough to slip away from you.
I highly recommend this knife for users with small gloved hands. Sweaty palms, not so much.

Also, I don't recommend for processing wood - carving tasks ok, but not batoning because of the thin spine. Hunters and fishermen might be able to use this knife to process game if they mod off the coating. The coating is rough and will cause friction...
Also not recommended for fire starting for the spine and the coating.

Ultimately, this knife to me is more like a combat knife. It has some field use if modded...But because of the grip, and the "decent" sheath, 4 stars

I have all 3 of the Becker Tweener models and this knife comes the sharpest out of the three. Of the 3 it is my 2nd favorite. The BK16 drop point just makes a better all around knife. The BK15 Trailing point is designed more for a specific purpose, slicing. It slices to perfection. It is also the best choice of the 3 for a defensive knife. It has the longest blade 5 in., sharpest blade, & sharpest point. Think about a fillet knife built like a tank. It seems to be very durable. The black protective coating is rougher than the slick coating that Becker knives used to have, but takes a lot more abuse to get off. It can handle tougher bushcrafting work as well. What I like most about the Tweener models is the handle though. It seems to have the perfect curvature for my hands (mine are mid size to large). It comes with 2 different grivory handle choices (black & coyote brown), but I prefer micarta which is available as an aftermarket purchase. This is a 5 star knife. The only reason it gets 4 stars is because of the sheath. The sheath is a cordura sheath with a pocket & 2 retension straps. Normally this type of sheath works really well and many people prefer them, but not for this knife. The sheath isn't bad, but doesn't work well for this knife. It does a lot better with the other 2 models. This sheath comes with all 3 of the Tweener models. It is not designed specifically for any 1 of the 3, but to fit them all. This knife is so sharp that it wants to cut the retension straps when inserting and pulling out the knife. I've actually even made a hole in the sheath with the tip of this knife while trying to insert it without cutting the strap, it is that sharp. There is a plastic insert to protect the sheath from the blade, but allows it to rattle.Read more ›

I loved the pics of this knife, so I purchased it. Upon receiving it, I stripped the coating, sanded and polished it, and acid-etched a design on it for the patina. I then introduced it to the worksharp. This knife is a RAZOR! I kept the factory scales because I thought they would clean easier than micarta would after field dressing. Great knife, excellent quality, and acceptable price. Price kept me at 4 stars.

Best balanced knife I own, this is the kind of knife that fills many needs from self defense and survival to food preparation in fact it handles so well and feels weightless in the hand due to its perfect balance point that I had one shipped to my mother for kitchen use, for a person with aging or ailing wrists and a less than ideal grip this knife is a godsend for slicing a roast or preparing those difficult to cut vegetables like carrots, potatoes and turnip, the ergonomic handles go a long way to reducing fatigue in the hands and wrists when performing any of the aforementioned duties,as well the BK15 is right at home around the campsite for most of the normal bush crafting purposes however when it comes to batoning I would rather use a tool better designed for that purpose not that the BK15 couldn't perform the task I just feel that it's far too valuable at its other tasks to risk any potential damage using it for jobs better suited to a heftier blade, all in all this knife and sheath combo is the kind of package that will last a lifetime when treated with respect and properly oiled between uses, now to get its big brother the BK5 just to complete the ensemble.

Excellent knife, the blade arrived razor sharp, has a rough texture coating on the blade to prevent rust as this is a high carbon steel blade, I may remove that later on for smoother cutting through thick material, but I just sliced up several cardboard boxes and that didn't deter it's travel one bit, very comfortable handle and great grind down to a thin edge.
This isn't something that I would think of as a knife you would baton wood with, you could I think, but it's thinner design is made for slicing!
Sheath has two snap fasteners, as the plastic insert doesn't provide any retention in the sheath, so once they are unsnapped, the knife can fall out pretty easy. A regular kydex rig would be the ticket for this I think, but for now the sheath is very serviceable and it's build quality does appear top notch.
Knife also came with another set of scales, brownish or tan, I'll leave the black on for now, maybe upgrading to micarta but not yet.
Very nice work Ka-Bar/Becker knives !
