There are three problems:

1. The outer profile of the handles is too small for the knife tang. The metal sticks out a bit all around, and is not especially comfortable for a handle which is made just for this specific knife model. Unfortunately, someone in the knife world has convinced people that it is cool to have handles which don't fit your knife.

2. The in-step part inside the handle (a smaller portion which fits into the large cutouts in the tang) is actually too small all around, and the handle scales will wiggle up and down a little.

3. The two halves of the handle don't meet inside. As you tighten the screw to keep it from coming loose over time, you are screwing down against the plastic with nothing to support it inside. The handles just barely catch on the inside of the blade, so I would worry about using this little Becker for any real hard jobs. There is plenty of room, even accounting for manufacturing variation, for the handles to have a deeper inset portion.

Problem #3 is especially annoying because you might be tempted to tighten the screws to try to solve problem #2. But there is very little plastic beneath each screw, and it could easily break if tightened too much.

I sort of solved this by adding a couple layers of tape around the inside of the tang cutout, AND by stacking a bunch of tape between the handles around the screw hols so there is something to tighten against. The is a pretty ghetto thing to do with handle scales which are supposedly made just for this knife.

The handles fit my BK14 great. Theres even 2 sets (4 screws total) so you could mount the orange set to one knife and the black set to another. The only thing I wish is that they would have included an allen wrench to put the handle screws on. As luck would have it I couldn't find the right size allen wrench anywhere and I ended up rigging it with a small straight blade screwdriver. Other than that though the handle scales feel great on the knife and are just the right thickness in my opinion.

Update: Upon finding the right allen wrench I grabbed some lock tite and went to permanently install the black set of handles. When I drew one of the screws down with the allen wrench and I wasn't using a ton of force I drew the allen screw head through the side of the handle. I've removed one star for this because I wasn't using he-man force so it should have taken at least that much force without busting.

Originally had the handle wrapped with paracord. Tried the Izula micarta scales for a while and they were an improvement. Decided to give these a shot and now strongly prefer them as they fill my hand better. Good fit and easy install. Can be stippled (textured) with a soldering iron if you want. Happy with mine the way they are. Would be better if they sold single sets and let you pick the color, but not a bad deal. Nice that they come with 2 sets of hardware. Traded my orange ones to a friend for his blacks and put them on another Eskabar I bought as a gift for my nephew.

The Eskabar handle kit comes with two sets of handle scales; one black and one orange. It also comes with two sets of hardware - both black - so you can accessorize two knives. Installation on a Kabar / ESEE Eskabar is as simple as snapping the scales on, then tightening with an Allen wrench (not included). Be sure not to overtighten, as the scales are just plastic, and if you tighten them too much, you'll pull the screw clean through the handle scale.

If you want to use this kit on an ESEE Izula, you can, but you'll have to do some trimming on the inside molding. To get the Izula to fit the factory sheath with these scales, you'll have to either trim the sheath or remove about 3/16" off the front of the scales (I prefer this approach). Overtightening is a big issue with the Izula, so use something for a spacer inside the handles. This set won't work on the Izula 2, as that knife's handle is 1/2" too long.

I really like this handle set. It gives the Eskabar a much better grip than the factory, or even cord-wrapping. You still keep the lanyard hole, and the handles are easy to remove if you want to. The handled Eskabar still snaps into its factory sheath (both the first version and the updated version) without any modification needed. After thumping on mine, the scales haven't loosened, but you may want to put some blue thread locker on the bolt.

These are an awesome upgrade to my BK14 Eskabar. I used paracord to wrap my bk14 handle for a while and while paracord is more comfortable than the bare handle, these scales are way better than the paracord. Its up to you how worth it these are but for me they take the BK14 out of the realm of simple neck knife and into the realm of a highly affordable full fledge fixed blade, I now reach for my BK14 just as often as my ESEE3*. I really like the blaze orange option and wish there were multiple other colors (maybe venom green?) that you could buy one set of. I don't think I will ever use the second set of handles that come in this pack and if it would allow the price to come down I think it would be nice if you could order black OR orange.
