THE FORMAT IS QUESTIONS FOLLOWED BY BRIEF ANSWERS- WHICH REALLY LEND TO CONFUSION AND LACK THE SIMPLISTIC OR FULLY EXPLAINED ANSWERS ONE WOULD EXPECT FROM AN INTODUCTION-IN SHORT THE BOOK LACKS COHESIVENESS AND LEAVES MORE QUESTIONS UNANSWERED THAN ANSWERED.I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT FOR A FIRST READING.

Format: Paperback
A short, strange, dated, and foreign introduction to the Kabbalah. Presented, just as the subtitle states, as "an introduction," the author chooses to use 205 mock questions and give 205 answers. As an introduction, it is okay, but it was written in 1910 in Germany and suffers from strange/half-assed translating/editing. The transliterations of Hebrew terms and names is decidedly not like they would be in 1910 English, much less modern English, and seem to be just moved over from the German. In English you'd expect "Luria," for instance, but you get "Lurja" here; I've only ever seen "Habakkuk" but here we have "Habicok." The Kabbalistic terms are no better: "Asijjah." And, pp. 52-53, "The First Book of Moses" (don't ask me why they didn't make it "Genesis") "verse 1" and "verse 2" obviously actually mean "chapter 1" and "chapter 2." I don't know whose error this is. And, since this was first written in 1910 in Germany, it is odd, and a bit ominous, to read the discussion on pp. 24-26 about Jews using Gentile blood in some secret Kabbalistic, Protocols of Zion-ish rituals. Especially disturbing is that, although the author denies there is any such Jewish ritual in six questions, to the seventh, "might such a blood superstition exist in some Jewish community in the world?" the author wavers, "Why not[?]." That is utterly disturbing, and, though it might have been relevant in 1910, the editor should have removed it or said something about it in the introduction.

Format: Paperback
The author presented his information in question/answer format. Very interesting but not as informative as it could have been. Left more questions than answers.
