4.0 out of 5 stars Massive Collection of Texts for Self or Group Study, March 28, 2009
This review is from: Kabbalah for the Student (Hardcover)
THE GOOD: Although made for use with their website and online videos (all free), B'nei Baruch's collection of Kabbalistic texts can be studied individually or with a group. The texts are all translated from Hebrew and are otherwise difficult-to-impossible to find in English. At Amazon's price, it's a steal!

THE NOT-SO-GOOD: Some have criticized B'nei Baruch's translations in the past as leaving out key parts to promote their own agenda. I do not know Hebrew, so I can offer no personal experience. There have also been accusations and suspicions that B'nei Baruch is a cult, and there are certainly some oddities within the group. Again, though, I cannot personally verify this to be true--but as with any spiritual group, it is important to do background checks and be comfortable with what one is getting into.

OTHER NOTES: If you are a beginner, you should probably hold off on getting this textbook. Once you have progressed to the point where you are ready for more challenging concepts, get this book. If you are a student of B'nei Baruch, this textbook is obviously a must have. If you are a student of the Kabbalah Centre, this textbook will do you no good--the teachings are not compatible, not matter what the Kabbalah Centre claims.

5.0 out of 5 stars Invaluable Collection of Kabbalist Articles, May 25, 2009
This review is from: Kabbalah for the Student (Hardcover)
If you are a student of Dr. Michael Laitman, then you must get this book. Not only is Kabbalah for the Students one of the most used references for Dr. Laitman's free Internet classes, but also serves as a reservoir for finding our most treasured articles in one convenient location. Any student of Kabbalah will find this a valuable addition to their home library. Kabbalah for the Student is the teachings of authentic Kabbalah passed down through thousands of years.

If you are new to Kabbalah, I would first recommend other books by Dr. Laitman such as "Idiots Guide to Kabbalah",; "Attaining the Worlds Beyond"; Kabbalah for Beginners".

5.0 out of 5 stars For the Serious Student, March 23, 2010
This review is from: Kabbalah for the Student (Hardcover)
There are many books available today, particularly those of Dr. Michael Laitman, that do an excellent job of describing to the layman what Kabbalah is about. Kabbalah for the Student is not one of them. It is a text book only for the serious student of Kabbalah. And, as such, is indispensable for advancement along the spiritual path. It overflows with the wisdom found in the writings of Yehuda Ashlag (Baal Hasulam) and Baruch Ashlag (The Rabash) - the greatest Kabbalists of our time. This is the main book used by the students of Bnei Baruch.

5.0 out of 5 stars A True Treasure, March 17, 2010
This review is from: Kabbalah for the Student (Hardcover)
This book is a true treasure of authentic Kabbalah wisdom. The bulk of the articles are written by Rav Yehuda Ashlag and his son Rav Baruch Ashlag and they are arranged under five major headings but can be read and studied in any order. I have a personal preference for studying the material starting at the beginning of the book and working my way through it. I found that my understanding of Kabbalistic concepts was continuously reinforced and expanded upon as I ventured further into this incredible book. I can literally lose all awareness of my external surroundings and daily concerns while engaged in these writings.

To assist with the deeper articles, at the back of the book is an extensive Glossary and over 40 pages of detailed diagrams provided as references to many of the more advanced Kabbalistic concepts. This book is an invaluable source of authentic Kabbalistic writings and as such is an integral component of on-line Kabbalah courses offered by Bnei Baruch.

For anyone interested in studying The Zohar (the seminal book of authentic Kabbalistic wisdom), Kabbalah for the Student is a must. This book will provide you with a solid foundaiton of Kabbalistic terminology and concepts and is the key to unlocking the timeless wisdom found in The Zohar.

This review is from: Kabbalah for the Student (Hardcover)
This comprehensive book allows the english speaking student access to key elements of the study of kaballah, without sugar coating the truth. The student is able to understand important concepts and learn the basics, from the traditional point of view. A refreshing antidote to pop culture kaballah.

5.0 out of 5 stars An essential book, September 10, 2009
This review is from: Kabbalah for the Student (Hardcover)
I think Kabbalah for the Student must be considered an essential part of anyone's study of Kabbalah. It is for me.
Beginners to advanced can mine these texts for the wisdom of Kabbalah and learn the methods of implementing the same wisdom on a day to day basis.
Anyone reading Kabbalah for the Student will appreciate the comprehensive in depth explanations of the authentic texts by the great Kabbalists from which Rav. Michael Laitman draws his teachings. I am pleased to say the text and essays provided an indispensible tool in understanding the wisdom of Kabbalah.
Kabbalah for the Student is the study guide for Michael Laitman's daily lessons which, together, transmit a wealth of learning opportunity not to be found anywhere else.

This review is from: Kabbalah for the Student (Hardcover)
I've been studying Kabbalah with Bnei Baruch for over a year now and have had this book for about 6 months. It is a wonderful book with a lot of articles, letters and even diagrams. Every time I open this book I find some truly wonderful wisdom. I strongly recommend this book for anyone who is studying with BB, especially if you are watching the live lessons on the kab.tv website.
