5.0 out of 5 stars A review of Kabbalistic Astrology and the Meaning of Our Lives
I should preface this review by stating that I have read other books by Philip Berg and by his sons, and therefore have some familiarity with the material and the terminology. The book that introduced me to this system (Kabbalah)was "The 72 Names of God," which for me was an amazing eye-opener. Specifically with reference to the Astrology book, I would like to say that...

I found this book interesting, but not very deep. I thought it could have done a whole lot more on personality tendencies. I thought the most useful aspect of this book was that it teaches not everything is "set in stone" but a tendency to be aware of should its influences give rise. Other useful information was his sporadic explanations between the basic...

I should preface this review by stating that I have read other books by Philip Berg and by his sons, and therefore have some familiarity with the material and the terminology. The book that introduced me to this system (Kabbalah)was "The 72 Names of God," which for me was an amazing eye-opener. Specifically with reference to the Astrology book, I would like to say that the information it has given me regarding my birth sign and my particular "tikune" (correction in this life) are right on target based on what I have recognized to be the areas in which I am lacking and the challenges that life has thrown my way in order to help me overcome those deficiencies. I therefore see this book as a very helpful tool.

So simple and so wonderful! Kabbalah gives us a completely new view of Astrology. We can actually control our destinies and rise above the influence of the stars and planets.

This book offers an overview of the astrological signs in the Hebrew calendar so there is a need to convert your birthdate first from Gregorian to Hebrew, as your constellation of birth is not always the same in both. It then gives a list where your correction or tikkun sign can be found. I have found the comments for each sign quite applicable, as a birth sign as well as for the tikkun sign. Furthermore it gives us the general character of each month, and its effect on all of us, which is interesting to know.

I found this book interesting, but not very deep. I thought it could have done a whole lot more on personality tendencies. I thought the most useful aspect of this book was that it teaches not everything is "set in stone" but a tendency to be aware of should its influences give rise. Other useful information was his sporadic explanations between the basic tenents of receiving for the sake of sharing and receiving for self alone. I found his lack of references or a bibliography disturbing given that astrological concepts have been around for quite a long time. How ironic that Kabbalah takes Solomon's teaching of " there is nothing new under the Sun " quite literally. Regardless, I don't think this book is a waste of time, but I don't find it as something I'm going to be coming back to frequently, as the word astrology inherently implies. I think a good perusal in Jungian theory or Meyers-Briggs will benefit a reader much more.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Different View, May 22, 2006
This review is from: Kabbalistic Astrology : And the Meaning of Our Lives (Hardcover)
This is a totally different way of looking at astrology. By using the chart at the back of the book you figure out what zodiac sign you were in a past life and what your correction is here this lifetime. Interesting material. Very entertaining.

Rav Berg's book fulfilled my curiosities about who we are and why we do the things we do! Very insightful! It helped me understand that conventional astrology is only the surface of the deep rooted widom, Kabbalistic Astrology!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, But Needs More Depth, October 17, 2009

Good as far as it goes, which is farther than some astrology books; but I would have liked to see more information about the Kabbalistic and Talmudic associations between the Hebrew letters and planets and astrological signs, as well as more information about Kabbalistic astrology in general. The "Tikkun" feature is helpful in delineating the meaning of the North and South Nodes of the Moon and their relationship to spiritual growth, but you would receive more on this from Martin Schulman's classic "The Nodes of the Moon and Karma." (The nodes, spots where the moon rises and sets through the ecliptic or planetary plane, were mapped at Stonehenege and known to the the Hindus many thousands of years ago, and are pivotal in terms of understanding reincarnational growth patterns, as is brought out in this book.) One day I would like to see more from Michael Berg (whose work I love and whose father apparently wrote this respectable treatment) or his associates on Kabbalistic astrology in the future.

As an astrology student, I was attracted to this book because it promised a breakthrough approach. What I found was a set of plain vanilla obvious comments. A real disapointment.
