5.0 out of 5 stars Another gorgeous, inspiring book from Kaffe Fassett
Once again the color and pattern combinations are extraordinary. It's the kind of book to curl up with and pore over each fabulous page for hours, but it also inspires me to jump up and get out there to get going on a new project.

3.0 out of 5 stars More than OK....
For visual impact, the book rates 5 stars; but, as a practical quilter, I found the fabrics were not easily duplicated and I had to rely upon my own research when I wanted to duplicate "the Kaffe Fassett look." Hence, the 3-star rating: OK.

In some respects, though, it is a 5-star production. The photography is stunning; the copy seductive. Be prepared to...

I've made projects with patterns from other Kaffee Fassett books and I've never been disappointed with the results. This one is another winner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiration to Last a Lifetime!, June 2, 2006
This review is from: Kaffe Fassetts Museum Quilts (Hardcover)
Master class colorist and decorative arts guru Kaffe Fassett has done it again. Kaffe takes quilt making to a very sophisticated level in this collectable book through his designer fabrics, design inspiration from the Victoria and Albert Museum, and his own creative imagination and genius. Each quilt is beautifully displayed within the museum making these pages artwork in and of themselves that you could frame for your own studio. Whether you are an advanced quilter and want to make something fast, or a beginner quilter that requires a simple pattern, your results will be extraordinary with Kaffe's 'utility' patterns using his museum quality fabrics. For intermediate quilters, Kaffe has taken some classic quilt patterns and turned them into show stopping exhibition quilts through his creative use of color and contemporary interpretations of traditional designs. An example of this is his Wedding Snowball Quilt made out of blue and white fabrics that mirror the blue delft ceramic tiles on display in the museum. Finally, for the truly gifted quilter, there are several master class quilts that are truly inspiring and aspirational for those who are ready for the challenge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better and better..., August 29, 2006
This review is from: Kaffe Fassetts Museum Quilts (Hardcover)
Each collection of quilts from Kaffe just gets better and better and this book is no exception. The combinations of color and design in every book with Kaffe Fassett's name are always a winner. Most patterns are suitable for both the beginner and expert (and there are also a few challenging patterns for those who appreciate accomplishing projects with that extra degree of difficulty). Patterns and instructions are very complete and the color combinations are very inspiring and interesting. Museum Quilts will be a welcome addition to any quilter's bookshelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars Designs and instructions in Kaffee Fasset's Style, August 28, 2006
This review is from: Kaffe Fassetts Museum Quilts (Hardcover)
This is a beautiful book with outstanding pictures of finished quilts and specifies fabric choices and instructions to make something similar of your own.If you love the less traditional but exciting mix of color and design you will be inspired by Kaffe's inspirational interpretations of museum quilts. Actually most of the quilts are quite simple in construction and can be made by a beginner quilter. Several are more complex designs but the construction directions are clear and precise. This is a book I love having in my collection for a moment's inspiration to try something unusual when I want to spark my creative juices.
Kaffe's fabrics and colors are usually clear and bright and vibrate against each other. If you love Kaffe's style you will love this book .

5.0 out of 5 stars A peppering of color photos polishes off the intriguing new designs., September 23, 2006
This review is from: Kaffe Fassetts Museum Quilts (Hardcover)
KAFFE FASSETT'S MUSEUM QUILTS: DESIGNS INSPIRED BY THE VICTORIA & ALBERT MUSEUM is a top pick for any quilter, offering new quilts from designer Kaffe Fassett who here draws ideas from the textiles in the famous London collection. Over twenty new patchwork designs weaves antique sources with contemporary stylings, using updated color schemes and modern sewing techniques. The patchworks are utility, traditional and showpiece creations and each design comes with full directions and easily-reproduced piecing patterns. A peppering of color photos polishes off the intriguing new designs.

3.0 out of 5 stars More than OK...., March 9, 2010
This review is from: Kaffe Fassetts Museum Quilts (Hardcover)
For visual impact, the book rates 5 stars; but, as a practical quilter, I found the fabrics were not easily duplicated and I had to rely upon my own research when I wanted to duplicate "the Kaffe Fassett look." Hence, the 3-star rating: OK.

In some respects, though, it is a 5-star production. The photography is stunning; the copy seductive. Be prepared to find your grandma's quilts a little utilitarian once you've spent an afternoon with the Fassett team.

Not a "how-to" but a great inspiration.Kaffe Fassetts Museum Quilts

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational Museum Quilts, February 24, 2006
This review is from: Kaffe Fassetts Museum Quilts (Hardcover)
Kaffe has produced a stunning book. I am amazed how his books get better and better. The modern adaptations from beautiful historical quilts in the Victoria and Albert Museum are superb. The designs using his fabulous fabrics are wonderful and exciting. Also recommend Quilt Road. Other quilting books pale into insignificance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even a non-quilter will love this beautiful book!, September 16, 2007
By
This review is from: Kaffe Fassetts Museum Quilts (Hardcover)
I have little ambition to create quilts and actually bought this book as a gift for a friend who is addicted to quilting. But, I was absolutely in love with the book from cover to cover. The photographer should be commended on the expertise shown in photographing these gorgeous quilts in such inspiring backdrops. Now, I am thinking perhaps I should take up this craft again - such beautiful inspiration.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love This Book, May 13, 2007
This review is from: Kaffe Fassetts Museum Quilts (Hardcover)
I loved this book from the first page to the last. I have all of Kaffe Fassett's books and this one is by far my favorite. The pictures of the antique quilts are beautiful and Kaffe's quilts give a modern remake without losing the integrity of the antique ones. This book will be added to my library of quilting books for always.
