About the Author
San Francisco-born artist Kaffe Fassett is a name every quilter knows. His work has been commissioned by the British monarchy, American fashion designers, and the Royal Shakespeare Company. More than a decade ago, Fassett partnered with Rowan to create the Kaffe Fassett Collections, which debuts new fabrics each fall. He has written numerous quilt best-sellers including Heritage Quilts, Kaffe Quilts Again, Kaffe Fassett: Dreaming in Color, an autobiography, and Kaffe Fassett's Quilt Romance.

The photography and printing quality of the book allow this to be one of the most functionally usable quilt books I own. I am again inspired to take up my rotary cutting wheel and start piecing.
The graphics and instructions are clear and well diagrammed. I wouldn't have changed a thing.
It's immediately obvious that he has a romanticized image of rustic areas of the world, and of the lives led there, that can only come from never having lived that life. I understand how this happens, but having grown up in that lifestyle, I don't share his misty-eyed reverence. This sense is apparently why all the quilt designs still use templates, even in current editions. It's fine for advanced quilters who use the designs as inspiration only, and create quilts using their existing knowledge, but beginners will be overwhelmed. Not only by the baffling presence of templates in a rotary world, but by the lack of complete instruction. There are 3-4 full-page pictures of each quilt in different settings, with a mere page of the most basic directions.
As an inspiration book, this is a winner, and a design book to help you make quilts, less so.
