4.0 out of 5 stars Good Basic Introduction to Mas F. Long Huna System
We should remember that Brad Steiger is one of those authors from the 1970s who sepnt time researching various subjects but did not spend a whole lot of time & effort in writing much more than introductory material on any subject. Like Hans Holzer, Mr. Steiger was instrumental in bringing a large reading audience to various subjects that he wrote on.

2.0 out of 5 stars A good introduction to the HUNA philosophy and psychology, January 15, 2001
This review is from: Kahuna Magic (Paperback)
After reading this authors later work "Totems: The Tranformational Powe Of Your Personal Animal Totem" I was expecting great things from this volume.

To say that I was disappointed would be an understatement. I had read most of this material in Max Freedom Long's (The Father of Current HUNA as we understand it.)volumes. The case reports in this volume are direct word for word copies of a small number of the case reports from "The Secret Science Behind Miracles" Max Freedom Long.

I would recommend for you to buy "The Secret Science Behind Miracles", and "The Secret Science At Work" instead.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Basic Introduction to Mas F. Long Huna System, February 28, 2009
This review is from: Kahuna Magic (Paperback)
We should remember that Brad Steiger is one of those authors from the 1970s who sepnt time researching various subjects but did not spend a whole lot of time & effort in writing much more than introductory material on any subject. Like Hans Holzer, Mr. Steiger was instrumental in bringing a large reading audience to various subjects that he wrote on.

Mr. Steiger did not mean for this book to be any sort of in-depth expose on the Long system of Huna (or Long Huna as I like to refer to it). Rather this is a simple. not difficult to understand basic book on Long Huna that anyone can purchase and make use of.

It is complete in that Steiger takes you from the basics to the more advanced concepts but in truth he does only gloss over them because as I said earlier, this is an INTRODUCTION to the system. Thus if all you had was this one book, you could with some persistence practice the Long Huna system effectively but you may not have all of the theory behind it.

One thing that the author included here is some discussion of the Huna Death Prayer which seems to put a lot of 'newage' (rhymes with sewage) folks into a tizzy. Perish forbid if anything that shows you how to kill off anything is printed or told because that's just not the way to 'higher consciousness'. Ugh.

I like this book. I myself give it four stars out of five simply because it is a beginner's manual and well that's been covered already by another great book by the late Enid Hoffman, which is "Huna: A Beginner's guide" which is more complete for the Long Huna neophyte. However if you bought Enid's book AND this book by Brad Steiger, you'd have a fairly decent format from which to work!

This is Brad Steiger's best book. It summarizes Max Freedom long's series of books on the huna. To the student of the occult this will open many doors. It did for me.
