Product Description

Vibrant monochromatic colors make the Pure Komachi 2 series a striking addition to your kitchen; but our deceptively playful colors serve a no-nonsense purpose. The high-carbon stainless steel blade provides a razor-sharp edge, while the color-coding makes it easy to choose the right knife for the job, right out of the clear acrylic block. The variety of colors help guard against cross-contamination of your food, making it easy to remember which blade you used on your meat and which knife was for vegetables. The food-safe blade coating resists corrosion, makes cleaning simple and helps the knife glide through food with ease. The Pure Komachi 2 color-matched handles are lightweight and contoured for a comfortable, remarkably nimble performance. Incredibly sharp and distinctly attention-getting, Pure Komachi 2 knives make a delightful addition to any kitchen.

I hand wash these knives without any abrasive cleaning agents, dry it immediately and place it either in the sheaths that come with the packaging or gently place it in a position where the knives are protected from rubbing anything including each other. The price has not fluctuated much during last couple of years. Kai USA is located in Tualatin Oregon, a subsidiary of Kershaw conglomerate with real interesting and innovative knife designs. They sell a $115 flip knife that I use for hiking and I am so happy with that as well since their designs are unique and most importantly real light weight which is a necessity in my expedition trips. Very sharp, stays sharp for years. Color does not come off that easily either but I do not use it as a screw driver either. When cutting, a soft base, a plastic base or wood base is always a better option than granite or solid countertops, anything that does not damage the sharp edges. When using these knives, you need to grab by the neck of the knife to have more control just like you would with any other type of knife but more in Kai's case since these are very sharp and hardly require any pressure so these cut through much easier and faster. I do not throw around these knives, or leave it in the kitchen sink till later, or under any pressure like heavy pots in the sink, or unwashed for few hours, or leave it in the dishwasher... and I certainly do not use it as a screw driver or a can opener either. Check prices before purchase. Bravo.

Bought these beauties a couple months ago at CostCo for $25 and I enjoy using them every single time. I especially can't get enough of the paring knife, which has a delightful shape and razor sharp edge. They are light-weight and crazy sharp, but like any knife, only time how they will fair against dulling.

The set comes with every basic knife a budding chef could want and a color coded sheath for each. This set would be great for a college student, an impressive housewarming gift, and perfect for no occasion at all for the friend who's place you cook at every once in a while who doesn't own a decent knife.

I have owned a set of 3 knives made by Zyliss for a couple of years now and by comparison, these are a bit sharper than I remember those being when I first purchased them. I have to say that I prefer the Zyliss over the Komachi handles because they are slightly heavier plastic, feel more ergonomic in my hand, and have some texturing to guard against slippage when wet. The Komachi handles are definitely comfortable and ultra light weight which is good if you are taking them backpacking, but I tend to prefer a knife handle with some heft to it.

All things told, you can't get a better starter set of knives for the money. Go ahead, buy 'em, you won't regret it.

These were a Christmas gift for my daughter. I've had my set for 2 years and still love them. They are the sharpest knives I've ever owned and hold an edge better than far higher priced sets.

I've been using these about a month. I like the different blades and think they're very nice knives for the price! My problem is with the handles. They are lightweight which is good, but when wet (or even damp) they get slippery. This leads to nasty cuts since they are very nice and sharp!

I really like these knives. If you get them from costco when on sale (25 bucks), it's a steal. I own a couple nice henckels, shuns and wusthof, and some cheaper cuisinart ones. Although these don't cut as well as the henckels and shuns, on first use they are very impressive. I just got them yesterday so I can't speak for all the knives are yet. But I tried the chef's knife and santoku so far and they work really well. I can slice tomatoes thinly with the chef's knife without applying force. The fun vibrant colors are a bonus, along with the sheath. I'm going back tonight to buy a set for my mom.

Extremely sharp knives. They can cut through almost anything. I have not have them long, but they seem durable. Beautiful colors. The handles fit great in your hand.

I smiled when I unpacked these knives and I still smile when I grab one to use. :-)

PROS:
-Colorful - fun for those who love bright, cheerful things, but also for those who like color-coding for easily grabbing the right knife.
-Light - for me this is a pro as it makes them easier for me to wield. Heavy knives sort of intimidate the newbie cook in me.
-Super sharp - cut bread, fruit, veggies, meats with ease!
-Easy to clean - hand wash and dry these quickly and they seem they will last forever with a little care.
-Inexpensive - but not s***ty-cheap.

CONS:
-For me, so far, there aren't any. My boyfriend found them too light for his personal preferences, but he is a trained chef who is used to the heft of high quality cutlery and skilled in wielding such items. Even so, he said they are wickedly sharp and that they work very well.

I was sooooo pleasantly surprised. These are like a hidden gem, and I'm so glad to have found them! This set is way better than anything out there around this price range. The sheaths make it easy to store them in a crock on the counter, and it takes up less space than a knife block. Can't tell you how please we are with these!
