4.0 out of 5 stars Great game so far March 13, 2013

Amazingly addictive game. Once you start it's really hard to put down. Not the hardest game but fun overrides the desire for challenge! Works perfectly on Galaxy S3, and fine on the Kindle Fire First Generation. This game easily gets addicting. I've been looking for a football app. that wasn't overloaded with complexity. Something I could play on my mobile phone & Android tablet when out & about. This game meets my requirements admirably. I like the simplicity (not having to worry about intricate tactical details) and how you are constantly unlocking ways to improve and challenge your team. There are a couple of minor things that could be fixed (for example, when the teams switch sides for the second half, the colored dots in the inset are mismatched, so it can be confusing watching the inset), but nothing that spoils the fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, Not Great January 26, 2013

I have high expectations for Kairosoft games. After playing GameDev and Grand Prix to death Pocket League seemed the next logical step for a sports fan like me.

This is unfortunately one of the games where Kairosoft's Japanese-ocity gets a bit in the way. The Japanese Time Management style of game doesn't translate well to sports management, especially with a polarizing game like soccer.

Don't get me wrong it's still a good game, just not a 5-star one. Soccer matches are fun to watch but not as fun as the races on Grand Prix Story. The $5 price point might be a bit high: GameDev's $3 point might be a better peer to be honest. Pocket League feels a bit repetitive a little quicker than the other games.

But if you really do like soccer but don't want a headache-inducing Football Manager type of deep game you'll definitely like this one. No shame in 4 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soccer Owner Sim February 22, 2013
I'm excited to see the Kairosoft games come to Amazon. These are some of the best retro looking sim/manager games available. There isn't an IAP and no tricky permissions.

In Pocket League Story, you take on the management of a soccer team, hiring players, building them up ala an RPG game, building up the stadium and the workout buildings, then leveling those up. Then your chosen, and ranked up, players play games - first in small friendly games, then later in championships - and you watch, setting the lineup, the strategy and the positions. Some may be dissatisfied that you don't play the game, but that isn't the point of this sim. Your job is to assemble and build up the best team possible then setting strategies that will enable them to win.

I got this from Play when it was on sale over a year ago and it remains one of the best sim games I've played. It's simple to start playing and complex enough to take a dozen hours easy to finish. Like many of the other Kairosoft games, it has a "one more turn" thing going for it making it hard to turn off. It's worth the money.

I do not like soccer, but I got this as Free App Of The Day. At first I did not like it because I couldn't get my good goalkeeper into my starters and small stuff like that, but after figuring out all of the controls it is very fun to manage your team while making you have enough of your budget to strengthen your team, get fans and support and get sponsors. I would also recommend this for all ages, as it is easy enough for a child to figure out and complicated enough for an adult to love. I would pay the five dollars, as I praise Kariosoft for this masterpiece.

As a fanatic for Fifa soccer games I found this app to be a welcome change of pace. I really like the fact you start out as a local club and literally build your fan base, facilities and team from the ground up. You have complete control over just about everything. Something I wish EA sports would implement. Oh and I got this game for free, so I will be purchasing probably their gran prix game at a later time, as I'm sure I will like it.

To sum it up the rpg lite elements in this game is what makes it so addictive, keep in mind you do not actually control your team during games, only the tactics. I find this more exciting somehow.

5.0 out of 5 stars FAOTD curse strikes again! March 13, 2013

So i have played Dev Story and loved it. These games are GREAT if you know what you are in for. So before the average customer spends a few bucks on a Kairosoft game, they are usually informed to exactly what they are getting. I know that I didn't buy dev story thinking I could actually play any games I was creating. Sure this one is a soccer game, so it could be misleading, but if you know Kairosoft games, they are all like this. You must appreciate what the game is and not what it isn't.

I love the fact that FAOTD exists, but it kills me when a company I like (i.e. Kairosoft) is willing to give us one of their game for free. They are all high quality and extremely fun and addicting. Then after giving us it for free, they must watch as their customer ratings plummet due to uninformed people giving it one star because they are mad that they didn't realize what the game they were downloading was about. Don't rate a game based on what you thought it was, but rather what it actually is. Pocket League Story is fun, addicting, and I don't even like soccer. Keep doing your thing Kairosoft, and instead of doing FAOTD maybe just send some free vouchers out to fans (cough* me* cough*) who know what it is they are actually playing and can give more honest reviews or comparative reviews with your other games.

That said, I like Dev story more... and would recommend you start there if you are new to Kairosoft games. I may however be prejudiced against pocket league because it is soccer (which i'm not that thrilled about) and it is twice as much as dev story, but if you love soccer than this is definitely the way to go.

(PS if you guys want to keep getting companies to agree to post FAOTD, stop bombing their ratings. I like free things, you like free things. Let us give them a reason to keep giving us free things)
