The Modern Classic No. 1 Frosted Carafe features the AlfiDur vacuum hardglass liner, high-quality polypropylene with "frosted" surface, and easy, one-hand operation. The double-walled AlfiDur vacuum hardglass liner keeps hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold. Before assembly each glass liner undergoes an operational test to ensure quality. Other outstanding features include:

• A hinged lid provides single-hand operation and is food safe.
• The twin-walled AlfiDur toughened hardglass liner creates a vacuum between the walls, allowing neither heat nor cold to escape; 100-percent performance tested.
• The seal prevents the escape of radiant heat.
• The body of the flask is comprised of high-quality raw materials e.g. copper and brass. Top quality is achieved by hand craftsmanship.
• The seals/screw fittings are food-safe and quality-tested. Each part can be replaced or repaired.

The Designer
The designer responsible for the Modern Classic No. 1 Frosted Carafe is Ole Palsby--a name associated with a quite fantastic career. The Danish top-designer from Copenhagen is entirely self-trained. He began his design career as the proprietor of a shop selling household goods. The shortcomings of some products he used kept him thinking about new aesthetic possibilities in this area, with great success!

Today, Ole Palsby is one of the most-respected designers in the world and some of his creations, like the Alfi Spherical jug, are even on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Alfi and Ole Palsby liaison have already produced three major successes. The hat-trick was achieved with the Spherical jug, Class No. 1, and Fresh Bottle, all of which won top-design awards. Ole Palsby describes his philosophy in the following words: "I firmly believe that basic shapes are present in our subconscious. The simplicity of the sphere gives pleasure. Classic forms will always be in demand."

I have been enjoying this Alfi carafe for a few years now.

Most cheap carafes I have used are terrible at keeping coffee/tea hot for very long, yet this one is surprisingly good at it. I have enjoyed hot coffee after several hours in this carafe. Worth every dollar.

Oh and it looks nice. :)

Also, I am sorry for the reviewer who mentioned a condensation issue. Mine has never had this problem. It's too bad they thought disassembling it would help. Also, I never have problems pouring into it from a coffee pot or press, though my aim is pretty average.

PS - When I first got it, it arrived broken. Amazon shipped the replacement within a few days and the return cost me neither money nor hassle. Good job amazon!

I really searched on-line for something nicer than the "office"-type carafes out there. This seemed like a good product. However, condensation forms between the lining and the outer layer... a lot! Maybe other carafes do this, too, but you just can't see it since this product has a "see-thru" outer shell. But taking it apart to clean it is not enjoyable. Plus, doing so, we cracked the inner lining slightly so now, of course, our tea doesn't stay warm very long. Also, the top opening is very small and difficult to pour into. Pretty, but not functional in the long run. (Our "thermos" brand lasted years.)

Love this design. Have looked for ages for one I liked that wasn't too expensive. This was on sale and perfect. No more thermal cups for a thermos while drinking coffee at my desk! Wish more colors would go on sale.
