I highly recommend this ring if you bake different sizes of cake, or even if you just bake one size, but want profesional straight sides to your round cakes!!! I do not, personally, bake with this ring (I have pans from 5 to 12 inches already so I do not need it in the oven). However, where I use it is in building my tiers. As you assemble the layers (with filling between), the layers can sometimes tend to "lean", even if you were very diligent putting it all together. What I like to do is assemble the tier (usually 4 inches in total height) and then place this ring around it when I have it chilling in the fridge. When it is just the cake layers it does not stick, however, I do put a ring of parchment paper inside the ring before I apply it to a crumb coated cake. It protects it from being bumped in the fridge, but more importantly, it keeps it all in a perfectly cylindrical shape. It does not go down to 6 inches, but for 7 inches up, this works beautifully. I do not bake a layer larger than 12 inches though, so the 12.5 inch max is perfect.

Satisfied,

In my personal opinion, this product is a bit pricey. It's not expensive but not cheap.
If you like to make a mousse cake, this product is right for you! I like to make a mouse cake and I can also use it for another kind of cake. I've had this product for months and I don't see any problem. I think it's better to use this setting ring than a spring form pan. Imagine how many spring form pans you need? one for 7", one for 8", one for 9", .............. This one is adjustable. I think this product plus round pans (for baking) is the perfect combination.

This is not a baking mold, it is a cake setting ring.
It is a great idea to have just one ring, instead of having ten ring of different sizes. Great height for layered cakes. You can adjust it to the desired width. The only problem is that it is a little flimsy, so when I am using it, I am afraid I might bend it. I have used it only once and it worked well. I will keep on using it. I took it to my baking class and showed it to my chef, she thought it was cool, but we're used to use the hard metal non-adjustable ones.

It is a good product for one who doesn't want to spend alot of money on a bunch of different size moulds but there are two downsides, it leaks through the bottom especially with liquids since the adjusting rings make it uneven, also it isn't a perfect circle unless it is extended to its full size so its partially an oval. You can bake with this but for batters it isn't recommended since it leaks out half the batter by the time it sets it the oven (even with it wrapped in aluminum foil). Decent product overall
