I purchased these decorating spatulas specifically for cake making. They are durable plastic and semi flexible. Great for making lines or flat sides on your cakes. If you find you don't need them for baking don't throw them out. Just get creative. I use mine for cutting cooking and bread doughs. I use one for a scraper to pick up my chopped veggies from the cutting board when I'm transferring them to a pot or pan. And i reserve a the pointy one for tenderizing meat. Let it be said that once i started using it for that, I NEVER use it on anything else. But since i don't bake cakes anymore, i don't really need it for anything else.

They're made of a durable, flexible plastic. Work exactly as you would expect. Together with a rotating plate, makes quick work of decorating. Great time saving tool. Best part is they are sooo easy to clean.

I am by no means a professional baker; I just like to make cakes for birthdays, holidays or dinner parties. Even then, I am a The Cake Mix Doctor kind of girl as opposed to a fancier cake. I do like things to look nice, though, and was struggling with the fact that my cakes looked like they were frosted by a second grader. I decided to try these, and I am so glad that I did! They saved my cakes and I'm no longer ashamed to give one of my cakes away. I use the different edges to achieve different effects (smooth or patterned). They make the frosting look so much more clean and neat. When I'm done, I just throw them in the dishwasher. Definitely worth buying.

I bought these for my wife, who was making a wedding cake. These were very close to what she wanted, but not exactly the same type of edge.

She made it work, though, and her friends were really impressed by the cake!
