5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Silicone Utensil
This 12" spoon is excellent for stir-blending soups, sauces, etc., and works very well as a "spatula" for scrambled eggs and stir fry. 3.0 out of 5 stars Okay for a spoon
There's just no way that anyone should pay the suggested $10 for this item. I got it free when I purchased another Kaiser bakeware item. At that price, it's about worth it. The packaging threw me off because it lists the heat tolerance in Centigrade, i.e., 260 degrees, versus Fahrenheit, which is what I'm more used to. That does translate to 500 degrees F. December 9...

December 9 update: Okay, this spoon is just perfect for doing scrambled eggs. Based on what others have written about it retaining stains and possibly odors if put in the dishwasher, I've decided to just use it for eggs. However, it's still not worth $10.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice addition to my kitchen utensils, February 1, 2008

I was very surprised that this spoon (can a spoon truly have a hole in it??) was so stiff. However, it works just fine to stir the crock pot ingredients and I like the long handle. My other silicone items are very flexible, but since this is lined with steel it's very stiff. Not only is it stiff, but it has a slightly rough texture unlike any other kitchen utensil I've tried. The thing I like most about this spoon is that it's silicone from top to bottom, so I don't have to bother with pulling out the handle to make sure my spoon/spatula is clean throughout. This design makes it very sanitary. It's great for non-stick cooking and can withstand high temperatures. Also, it seems to be very durable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Handy Useful Thing, December 7, 2007

The Kaiserflex Silicone Blending Spoon is handy. It is stiff (lined with metal) but coated with silicone which means it can withstand some higher temperatures. The hole in it allows for good smooth stirring. It was free with the purchase of my Kaiser spring form pan so that is an added bonus. I put it in the dishwasher and I will hand wash it from now on. It absorbed odors while in the dishwasher. It is not ruined but I won't just put it in the dishwasher again. Onion flavored cheesecake is relatively unpopular so I will be more careful.

I bought 2 on the Friday sale and for under a buck each, I am not disappointed at all.It is a light blue color, not dark as pictured but the sizing is correct. It is quite sturdy and should last for years. I have not had any problems w/ staining, but then I haven't used it with any berries or tomato foods. I do agree w/ the others that it is not worth 10, so just get it free w/ a Kaiser purchase or wait for another Friday sale.

For the ten dollar price, I expected more. But, this spoon compares to some other $3 to $5 spoons that I could have bought at WalMart, and it is smaller than most of those.

I guess it is priced higher because it was made in Germany and not China.

For the price of $.99, it's a great buy. I would not pay $10.00 for it, though. I like that it's 12-inches long, because it's convenient when stirring hot sauces.

i got this spoon for free during a promotion and initially i thought it was ridiculous to have a spoon with a hole in the center... but later on it became my favorite spoon to use while cooking. unfortunately after about a year or so, the silicone on the spoon part tore away from the metal a little. i previously thought i only loved it because i did not have to pay for it, but now i miss having it and i will probably purchase another.

It's one of my favorite spoons for stirring because the hole minimizes the degree to which stirred material is prone to splashing out of bowl or pot. However if used to free stuff sticking to the bottom of a pot (particularly a rough cast iron pot like Lodge) the metal core of the spoon will cut through the silicone covering.

5.0 out of 5 stars My go to tool is used every day, who would've thought?, April 4, 2009

This review is from: Kaiser KaiserFlex Silicone Blending Spoon (Kitchen)
I bought this KaiserFlex Silicone Blending Spoon when it was on sale at Amazon and I wish I'd bought a dozen. It is lightweight, the silicone surrounds a thin metal base which gives it strength. It fits perfectly in a small hand, is a substantial length so it works well even in a larger pot, and more importantly, works for so much more than blending. I use it in preparing my biga for bread, stirring anything in a pot, shirring eggs, rubbing the handle between my palms for a little whipping, turning over my Boca burgers, blending chocolate into nuts for candy, and on and on and on. It still looks as good as the day I received it and I believe this will last for a very, very long time. I have it in my Amazon cart so I can watch the price, hoping it will be reduced again so I can buy a bunch as gifts. I love the shape of this spoon, the pointed end allows me to use it in places other spoons and spatulas can't go. It's perfect for scooping out the last bits from those jars of mayo, mustard, sauces and whatever.
