Book Description

Kaizen teian -- the Japanese-style proposal system for continuous improvement -- is the most direct and effective method for channeling employees' creative energies and hands-on insight. This book is the first in a new three-volume set that brings the management, guidance, and development of kaizen teian systems into perfect focus.

This first volume explains many aspects of running a proposal program on a day-to-day basis and provides cartoon examples of successful kaizen teian programs in four major Japanese organizations. This concise reference outlines the policies that support a "bottom-up" system of innovation and defines the three main objectives of kaizen teian: to build participation, develop individuals' skills, and achieve higher profits. 4.0 out of 5 stars The reality behind suggestion or ideaboxes, April 6, 2008
By
Eric Schmitz (Leuven, Belgium) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kaizen Teian 1: Developing Systems for Continuous Improvement Through Employee Suggestions (No. 1) (Paperback)
In this book, you get a real insight concerning the suggestion- or idea-boxes as functioning in the Japanese industry. Step by step and in the typical japanese way of detailed describing, it is explored
(i) what the real aim of suggestion-boxes (building people) is,
(ii)how to get there (asking questions, not giving answers) and
(iii) who are the real key persons (employee and direct supervisor)
(iv) when: long term result means short term efforts (first go for the people, the results will come).

So if you believe and work at lean manufacturing, then this book wil help you explore further the building of people. If you do not are acquainted with lean, then you can touch here a little bit the typical thinking!
Highly recommended.
