Nice mix of several Hawaiian styles,
By
This review is from: Kalei Bridges (Audio CD)
Kalei Bridges is not a top Hawaiian artist, but does a nice job on this mix of different Hawaiian styles ranging from the '40s to the '80s, typical of what you might hear at a concert in Kapiolani Park in Waikiki. Includes '40s style steel-guitar with falsetto vocals, some songs have nice slack-key guitar or ukulele work; there are several 'standards,' like Ka'ano'i. Musicianship is top-notch. All but two of the songs are sung in Hawaiian, or at least in mostly. There is none of the modern 'Jawaiian' reggae. It does not include his more popular song 'Pakalana' - check out his album 'Beneath The Kona Moon' for that one. All in all, a mellow mix of mostly slower relaxing tunes good for sipping Mai Tai's with some lomi lomi salmon poolside.
