This is an amazing, thought-provoking, and flawlessly written
little book -- a "rollicking tale" for sure, and far more. It's a rare peek
into the tough world of the urban real-estate entrepreneur, told by a woman
who entered it completely untaught and rose to prominence through
her honesty, her intelligence, her willingness to learn from mistakes,
and her fathomless courage. But even that is only the setting for what
seems to this reader to be the real story: a rare self-portrait of a remarkable lady
remaining true to her ideals as she functions successfully in a man's world --
and eventually finding her true calling by putting to use everything she's learned
by forming her own eco-friendly corporation. Here's a person who's done
everything from restoring ceiling paintings in a classic old building
with her own Michelangelesque hands, to taking up the legal cudgels
against misguided federal agencies and powerful corporate enterprises.
Who could ask for more?
I greatly enjoyed reading this intriguing and gripping little book,
and recommend it highly to anyone who might be inspired by the tale
of a woman's successful life-adventure in a predominantly male environment,
and who manages to remain true to herself throughout.
